FFIV's W. Meteo FTW!
A spell that takes a week to destroy everything is not too impressive. Hell even in Majora's Mask it only took 3 days for the moon to collide with the planet;)

personally being a ff7 fan , i like the old sch bolt 3 and demi stuff love it , also i wouldn't class this as black magic but clouds meteor rain limit break is so kwl reminds me of meteor magic but it luks so cooler!
But it neva beats the lengendery "omdislash" - ff8 tried to take the omdislash move and make it more complex with lionheart but it still does not compare to the coolness of "omdislash" and i think the lionheart finisher is a little over the top and takes 2 long.
p.s check out my thread on my special gambit set - up for ff12 called easy lv ups for auto leveling
thanks guys;)
Doomsday ftw.
--Aegis.
why id Demi not in there? Demi was absolutly amazing in all the games it appeared in...
my point proven wel said m8 demi owns;)
Ultima, but mainly in FFVI. I agree with Vivi22 that it seems underpowered in later games.
BTW, if there's other magic that's stronger than Ultima in a particular game, isn't it self-defeating to call it Ultima? Shouldn't it be called Penultima instead?
>>> HADOKEN!.
Flare! But it sucked in FFXII...
Hmmm...Shouldn't Osmose/Aspir/Syphon be up there? It could be considered an ultimate spell 'cause it drains MP, leaving your opponent with no magic to cast spells....
...ultima...doesn't it just scream "Ultimate"?!
Draining MP is rarely the best way to defeat a boss. Although it worked wonders with the Magicmaster in FFVI. Once his MP was down to zero, he'd try to cast and poof, he was gone!
But that approach took a lot longer than slamming him with Ultima and relying on auto-life spells to revive the party after the inevitable Ultima retaliation.
Can I change my answer?
Also, Osmose is rarely black magic. The only time it was that comes to mind right now is FFIV, but only since they had no devisions other than White and Black. Unless I'm forgetting an example, I'm pretty sure it fell under support magic of some kind from FFVI on (I can't remember what it was in FFV at the moment).
When replaying FFVI, I will sometimes intentionally not use Ultima in order to make the end parts of the game more challenging. I can't say that for any other spell in any other FF. :)
So yeah, FFVI Ultima.
I just gotta go with Flare, for some reason.
Meteo will always be my favorite, with Ultima at a close second. It just seems a bit more realistic, that the ability to summon meteorites from out of space would show the ultimate mastery over destructive magic.
