Everyone wants the superslick. It's just something you can't help. Going cold turkey isn't easy. Trust me, having to deal with the fact that my hair is no longer as fantastically shiny as it used to be is the most trying part of my day.

The concept of Ulti is always eternal because if the current Ulti (The Ulti one you saw in the game) was killed by a party of yours in the past due to TC, but think about her future existence, the concept is still alive in that 'later' timeline. Note- it's not the actual Ulti, it could be anybody else that gained her powers in the future, for example, Rinoa. In the game, every timeline was presented in real time. If the present timeline zoomed to the future's timeline, everything will be coexisting in a different way with a different Ulti (Rinoa).

Without Ulti's powers, she won't survive longer but she did get it. Check out the Squall's theory as it's containing a lot of pages concluding that R=U is very possible.

but just think of this.. producers spent maybe 6 months on the WHOLE plot.. at most.. so how much do you think they thought this through.. not a lot..
