How can FFVII be underrated if it brought the series to the mainstream?
I'd say FFIX, which I think is a great game but in comparison to some of the series crept under the radar to an extent. Especially with it coming after FFVII (the most famous) and FFVIII (possibly the most divisive of the series), and being followed by the first one of the PS2 era in FFX. It has a tendency to be overlooked.
FFV is another one that could fit the bill.
And whoever voted FFVII is a moron, yes XD

it's often completely overlooked between FFIV and VI, considered two of the best in the series.

Well, II, III and V will always be underrated in the states for the lame reason that they weren't initially released in N. America. In Japan III usually ranks pretty high among FF's, better than the cult classic which VI is here.
I voted for FFXII because I'm slowly starting to acknowledge it as one of the top games in the series, but I know it'll never be acknowledged as "the best" by anyone.
Many people hate FFVII only because of it's fanbase(a stupid reason to underrate a game, IMO). And some of them didn't even play it.Quote:
