Oh noes! :( Come on team!
I propose a change in tactics for these friendlies. We play as dirty as we can and try to break some legs. It's only a friendly, after all, so cards and suspensions will not matter!
A fair few subs at half time followed up now (~72 minutes) with Leopold on for a tiring blim. Tactics have changed.

Hahaha, Braska Spira. Of all people!
Fulltime. In truth, we dominated the second half but never made enough of our many, many chances. 75% of the possession I estimate belonged to us at that point, too. Still, first game so we shouldn't make the world of it.

Awe, well hopefully we'll get better... COME ON!!!! :D
Errr, when did i become Irish? I'm sure i would have noticed.
Also Bob, just out of curiosity can you PM me screenshots of my stats?
Oh well. York aren't that far below us in terms of skill, so while a home loss is disappointing it's not exactly embarrassing.
Did you play around with the team tactics, BoB, or just the formation?
Poor Burtsplurt =(
Still, it's early days yet. I imagine we're the sort of team that only gets into gear for the big games against the big clubs. Havant and Waterlooville, for instance.
Still, I can't complain with being a half decent central defender!
Edit: Also: Hurrah for York's other friendly being against Colwyn Bay, my local team! And it's looking like York'll be my local team while I'm at Uni. Don't worry though, they'll pay for what they've done to my morale!
Due to the problems with transfers, the only way we found we could go ahead with things is if we didn't bother to have the players being totally accurate but instead nicknamed existing characters. So in this game, at least for now, you wear green and enjoy your Guiness.

So was I, Luke. I wonder if he's related to our Saunders?
Alright! Training. I've put together similar training sessions to those I used quite successfully in the Scottish League in my stint with Albion Rovers. Here's what you'll all be dealing with...

On a rather positive note, somehow after saving and reloading, my overspending on wages has turned into £23 of underspending. So there's officially no need for me to bother too much with transfers... but we'll see.
On towards the next game! Kishi's been checking out the players at Southport and I've just got a message.

I'm thinking width and direct passing.

Oh dear, I'm rubbish, injured, older, and I've lost some... height.
Don't worry yet, Splurt. We'll see how you improve - Braska Spira may be a DM but he's a pretty poor one by comparison. You're also my preferred option for vice captain as you have a lot of influence and determination (although Edge eases into captaincy). So it's not all over yet. I'm also looking into a few other midfielders which means you might be able to slide your name from one to another.
I'm going to continue with the same lineup as the last game to see whether or not that was a one-off.
EDIT: Just one minute in and -- Cz! What were you thinking!? I'd love crosses like that if they weren't well in front of our own goalkeeper and directly in front of the opposition forward. 0-1. Terrible.
EDIT: 4" in and we're already 1-1! Fantastic showing by Dan, he got a pass fed through to him while lying deep in the midfield, moved straight into two defenders, controlled the ball well and got past the both of them, shot into the opposite corner from the right side of the penalty box and it's a wonderful goal. :)
EDIT: 11th minute, and what was all that about a congested midfield? A pass from the defence goes right down the middle, one side of the pitch to the other, slicing through the whole midfield and lands at Dan's feet and he's already past the last defender at this point. One on one with the goalkeeper, who gets a hand to the shot and the ball settles right in front of the middle of goal, about two feet in front. Dan's momentum means he's there first. You can't miss from there! 2-1.
EDIT: 13:52, HATTRICK FOR DK!!! Psychotic picked up a poor pass from Southport on the wing while marking Southport's better player and he's passed him, fed in a lovely cross, and Jess simply taps the ball back into the line of Dan's feet. Past the goalkeeper, into the far corner, 3-1. Dan's looking to put this game ot bed early.
EDIT: 22 minutes in, oh my, you just can't stop him! 4-1!!! Edge feeds the ball and once again Dan's just in front of the keeper.

...a common sight in this game.
EDIT: Edge got a long shot narrowly off target, Jess found herself with the ball at her feet right in front of goal - but the keeper was too close to her. Dan gets a shot on goal tipped over the top, corner kick.
EDIT: Half time and Leopold is on for Cz, while Heath and Jess make way for Levian and Harvest respectively. Dan's got a 10 rating by the fans and he isn't even tired! I'll leave him on for now.
EDIT: 63 in now, and it's still 4-1. Dan almost set up Harvest but the lad was surrounded by defenders and they muscled in and got the ball before Harvest had a touch. Quickly the ball went to the other end, a one-on-one situation with the keeper and luckily the ball went into the stands. Time for the rest of the team to get subbed, as I hope to get everyone match fit and avoid any injuries coming to the star players. Big applause for Dan, well earned, that.

EDIT: 68:30 and HOORJ insanely close to goal, just skids past the far post. Unlucky.
EDIT: All over! 4-1 to us. The rest of the game was quite messy, the ball constantly getting stolen and many passes going astray. One situation where they could have got a goal, but overall I'm quite pleased with that display, a masive turnaround from the last game and everyone is feeling a bit more confident.

Too right.
Represent, mothersmurfer.
In this game I thought I'd try something new, see how good our lads are at different formations and find out how they can adapt.

06:00 - Dude slides a pass to Cz on the left, who delivers a lovely cross in for DK but the shot is punched away by the keeper. A flood of players run into the penalty box to get it, but Edge is first in line and gets his first goal for Eyeson. 1-0!
http://www.eyesonff.com/BoB/eyesonfc...-edge-goal.jpg
08:49 - Somehow a player not only gets past Heath, but when Heath AND Manus caught up with him and moved in front of him - he got past both Manus and Heath, again! Slotted in a goal as well, that's 1-1. Ouch.
Half time: Nothing happened other than the goals, really. A few chances here and there but nothing particularly special. Moving back towards a more 4-4-2 style game, with Dan and Spira going off and the wide players coming in the shape of Leopold and Psychotic.

70:00 Southam on for Dude. Still nothing much happening.
72:00 Further substitutions, Levian on for Manus while blim comes on for Cz, with Leopold dropping back.

83:47 Dammit, 2-1. Distillery's McCabe gets a goal in from 25 yards, I have to admit that goal was nigh on unstoppable, though. Right over the head of both defender and goalkeeper.
90:00 Jess is off the field with an injury, and the players seem a bit concerned at how slowly she's getting off. Play is underway while she receives treatment. Distillery have the ball now, and they're -- oh, bugger. 3-1.

Not good enough. Despite being a League Two side, I still think we should have played better against an Northern Irish PL side. I just think we should have seen a lot more from out side. Still, at least we learnt something about the formations to avoid, if anything. I'll revert back to the standard formation for the next game.
On another note, I have a message from our physio, Shauna.

Gutted, but at least it's only a slight knock so it's not as bad as I had feared at first.
I demand to be renamed Wanchope. I'm playing exactly like him
