Come on man thats all bs that the newer generation people "really just stop caring about others", or even that the music is less meaningfull, just dont look in the charts. And come on, 'we are the world' isnt exactly a song with a whole lot of meaning in it. It has a sentiment, which is just "lets all be happy, lets end all world hunger and poverty and pink bunny rabbits will lick your ears" or something like that.
