So they're all males except for the carrot (though I remember seeing a VeggieTales episode with the carrot girl's family in it-- it used to be drilled into my eyes when my brother was obsessed with the series). The asparagus are androgynous, especially since the kid asparagus was voiced by a girl.

Also, all peas are French. And AWESOME.

Butternut squash is clearly male.

Yams are male.

I say peas must be the rulers of vegiopolis. The way they extend their influence upward into the highest social rungs of society, climbing up all opportunities and blossoming into a beautiful flower and then a delicious little veggie. Also, they have armour! :]

and i thougt all vegetables that were not roots were the swollen ovaries of a plant species, therefore they are female. or at least so i thought.
