Can I get a "hell, yeah?"

Hell, yeah.
Kare Kano is pretty terrific, I think. Despite its flaws, I enjoyed the anime, too.
As for myself, I am currently watching:
Nodame Cantabile Finale
Katanagatari
Hanamaru Kindergarten
Kimi ni Todoke
Durarara!!
Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha
and I plan on starting Tatami Galaxy soon enough. I've been psyched for it for months, and haven't even got around to watching it yet. :|
You know what, if people can watch Wings of Honneamise and not get bored, then maaaaybe I'll contribute something more substantial to these anime threads.
I think Elfen Lied is a bad show, but I don't feel strongly enough about it to argue with all you guys that like it. There are certainly much worse shows. But folks saying that it's their favourite really do need to expand just a little more. Elfen Lied is a good step away from the stuff that people usually see on TV, so if EL is your gateway drug to the vast and infinite universe of anime, then I really can't hate on it so much.
But yeah. Get back to me after any of you watch Wings of Honneamise (a movie) and tell me how you liked it, and be honest. I really like the movie, but it's not something universally appealing. Then I might have a better idea of what you will or won't like.
Elfen Lied is awesome but i am writing my own anime :p
im writing the story just need someone to draw it i lack the drawing skills ...any offers? XD
I'd say it's comparable to listening to Linkin Park when you're an early teenager. Elfen Lied captures the adolescent need for what is edgy and violent and anything that's a shock image. I don't want to start an anime vs. cartoon discussion, but most Westerners consider anime to fall under the category of cartoon. It's not like they know better. And then, they see so much blood coming out of something, and being caused by a girl; if that isn't a shock, I don't know what is.
But people grow up. They stop listening to Linkin Park and stop saying that it's their favorite band. I was fortunate enough to have not watched Elfen Lied back when I was discovering anime. Then I could see it for what it is, an excellent gateway anime, but like drugs, there's so much better.
Screw you, I still love Linkin Park.
I tried reading the Manga for Elfen Lied, but lost interest very quickly. I liked the actual plot stuff, but the character interactions were very out of place. I can't stand reading about school boy/girl interactions in the middle of some kick ass developments going on around them. Basing an otherwise good anime around school kids ruins the vast bulk of the genre.
I''m on ep.8 of Pandora Hearts, that :bou::bou::bou::bou: is trippy. The monsters in it kind of remind me of D. Gray Man but I don't know why. It's really good, and good for you Rye, Elfen Lied is great xD.
I just went trough every single episode of Ga-Rei Zero today.
Seriously... watch it. It starts off kinda "meh" and "I've seen this before" etc. But without spoiling too much, the end of the very first episode turns things upside down.
Then, it just gets better and better. The ending had me all emotional.
...in fact, it felt like the first anime I've watched in ages that actually had a really good and non-cheesy ending.
(SPOILER)And Yomi = love. <3
Just discovered Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom, really good xD
I like the typical ones. Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun, Hellsing, Full Metal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo.
I feel like I'm forgetting something, though.
(SPOILER)
In Phantom, I have never absolutely hated a character so much as I hate Scythe Master... he's an evil bastard.
Elfen Lied is pretty much just OMG BLOOD AND NAKED WOMEN AND BLOOD AND WOMEN WHO MAKE CAT NOISES AND BLOOD D:
I enjoyed it at the time I watched it, now I probably wouldn't so much. Tav pretty much summed it up there.
Why not make it a book instead? Or perhaps take drawing lessons to draw out a web manga? :p
Anyway, I don't watch much anime. I'm caught up on Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and recently finished both Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop. Before that, it was that anime show on Cartoon Network that showed Sailor Moon and DBZ. :p
