My sister is 11, so it will be a long time before I have any neices/nephews (if ever). As I do not want any kids ever, she will almost certainly have kids before me.

I am afraid to be an uncle.
I have a nephew and two nieces that I've never met.
Mostly because my big bro, who's 24, is never going to be in a relationship of any type...He just won't. He's too wrapped up in his own life (which is honestly just Eve and anime, and hanging out with his friends every now and then) and he's too cynical about people in general to ever get married. It'd take a really really unique type of girl for him to settle down.
Thus, it's looking like it's up to me to be the first to bring children into the brood. I'm still too young by my personal standards to even get married, let alone have kids, but I know i'll be starting sometime in the next 10 years.
So no I dont know what aunthood is like yet and probably won't for a good while considering the next in line is 5 years younger than me (as long as he keeps it wrapped and/or in the pants).
Congrats to you, Roddy. May your uncleship be... erm... whatever uncleship is supposed to be.
I'm the oldest in my family by three.five years, so I better not be an uncle before I be a father.
I have a niece and she is the cutest thing ever, she's only about 16 months :jess: It was very surprising when I heard that my brother's girlfriend was pregnant, he was nearly 20 at the time and it definitely wasn't planned. I never thought he would be the first to have a baby, he isn't even the oldest out of the six of us.
Anyway, I think I'm quite a fun auntie and if I had more money I would probably spoil her a lot. It's kind of still weird to think that I am an aunt to be honest.
OMG, Congrats Rod! I'm so happy for you! Tell your sister some gay kid half the world away who has a megacrush on you wishes you all the best!
My sister had a baby at 14 and she gave it up for adoption. I don't consider myself an Uncle, but she does.
Regardless, that's cool that you're going to be a legitimate uncle.
Oh god..
I misread the opening of your post as:Quote:

My nephew is turning 2 this Sunday and I'm gonna make him something special for his birthday :) He makes me really happy to be around and always wants to hang out with me.
Congratulations, Rod. I think you can look forward to a lot of fun in the future with your new niece/nephew :)
