Yahtzee's annoying because apparently he takes himself seriously.
Who cares, he's still awesome.
No. I actually remember seeing him blog or have a Youtube comment debate with someone on this. Joel is not The Bastard Gamer. The Bastard Gamer is a character, who happens to be Canadian. I... I don't know why.
I still watch his reviews sometimes, but I always assumed it was just a shtick. If that's how he actually thinks, then he's stupid and apparently doesn't like any games ever.
I used to really like the AVGN, but lately his reviews have gotten a bit stale, and he seems to be pushing out all this other stuff that he's not very good at or isn't interested in.
He became known through the AVGN, and that's what he's good at. He fancies himself as some sort of Director or actor, but he's not either of them.
Now I only watch Spoony and sfdebris. They're both still great.
Joel Holmes > all the end. I'm so glad he still has me as a LJ so I can see his wonderful video game reviews ^_^
Yahtzee is obviously exaggerating the bad sides of the games he reviews, while usually not mentioning the good sides. There are lots of games he actually likes even if it sounds like he doesn't.
Yahtzee is the only one I still tolerate. He actually brings up good points in his reviews. The others just swear a lot.
I like Yahtzee, even if I rarely agree with his overall "this game is crap" review I do often have to agree with the faults he gives the games; including titles I actually like.
Still, he makes me laugh whereas the other guys listed here are not as charming or funny half the time.
James Rolfe is a film nerd before game nerd, and that’s why I like his videos: his passion for making film. Yahtzee, you know, he’s funny sometimes, but mostly he’s just stating the obvious really fast. I think if he didn’t have to do a video a week and just kind of done it as a hobby or something, but whatever wait...
wait.
Why are we criticizing critics
doesn’t that make us a bunch of even more pretentious jerks?
