It's weird, I have always thought everyone was crazy when they say this place says x and that place says y because I lived in those places and they didn't say x or y! But looking at that map, I lived in the one little square in the whole state that was different each time. Also lol at Californians being smug about calling it soda when it's pretty evenly divided between soda, pop, coke, and "other", in true California fashion xDQuote:

I've never known anybody in the UK to call it "soda".
I just call it whatever brand it is I'm talking about - coca cola, fanta, pepsi, sprite. etc
But what about when you're just talking about soda in general? Like "I'm in the mood for some soda. What kind of soda do I want?" Or "hey guys there are lots of sodas in the fridge" because you have twenty different kinds.
Erm...I'd ask them if they wanted a drink, then I'd list what I have in the fridge as options. :jess:
As for in general, "I fancy a drink."
I don't know. Fizzy pop would probably be the most likely term, but I just don't.
