Pocahontas isn't really a princess either, is she? In the sense, couldn't almost every "female" character in a Disney movie be included on that list? I mean, Nala, a lion, "marries" Simba and becomes a "princess", right? I mean, the freaking title of the movie she is starring in is called The Lion KING. x)
It just depends on how you look at it. There are the Disney characters that were born princesses, the ones who married princes/kings, and ones who didn't do either but are still cool. The official Disney Princess line includes all of the girls in the picture I posted. Jane, Esmerelda, Alice, Nala, and Wendy aren't a part of that line. And then there's Kida and Eilonwy, who are princesses, but still aren't a part of the Disney Princess line.
I don't really know what Disney's criteria is for picking favorites.
1. Ariel
2. Pocahontas
3. Jasmine
4. Rapunzel
5. Mulan
6. Belle
7. Tiana
8. Cinderella
9. Snow White
10. Aurora
Also, whether or not a Disney character can be a "Disney Princess" or not depends on whether or not they fall into what Disney CEOs call "The Princess Mythology", which is, from what I understand after years of research (no really) being a "Disney Princess" doesn't really have anything to do with actually being a princess, it has to do with:
- Being a main character (or strong supporting character) in your film
- Falling in love with a dude
- Having animal friends
- Whether you sing or not (because the bulk of Disney princess crap is sing along videos and music collections)
- It helps if you appear in more than one outfit (dressup dolls)
- No animals allowed (because animals can't have animal friends)
This is why Mulan gets to be a Disney princess, while actual princesses like Tiger Lily (no singing, no animal friends, not a main character), Megara (no animal friends, only one outfit), Kida (no singing, no animal friends), Maid Marian (animal), Nala (animal) and Eilonwy (no singing, only one outfit) don't get to be part of it.
The only one who gets me is Esmeralda (from The Hunchback of Notre Dame); she fits all the crietria; she sings, has more than one outfit, she falls in love with a dude, and hangs out with a goat, yet she still doesn't get to be a Disney Princess. Maybe they just thought she wasn't popular enough? Ho hum.
She's the Native American equivalent, as she's the daughter of her tribe's chieftain, so yeah, I'd consider her a princess.Quote:

Mulan is the greatest! However Sleeping Beauty is a close second.
Oh, man, I laughed until I snorted. Thanks for that.
Jazmine be my favorite, I always liked the voice actress they chose for that role. (don't look her up though....seriously don't it'll spoil everything. Don't say I didn't warn you).
So...sultry.
Mulan is great too, as is Pocahontas, who is, in my opinion, the most exemplary "princess" of the bunch in that she is more regal than the others, more mature.
I like Giselle.

Okay, Giselle is a good pick.
Unf, Amy Adams can do no wrong.
yeah, I didn't give her enough credit at first, but she just keeps getting better.
Good in Doubt
Awesome in Sunshine Cleaning
Killer in The Fighter, even if the accent was a little off.
Let's hope she can pull off Lois Lane.
You'll have to add, "Doesn't ever turn into a real person" to your list of requirements, DMKA, because Giselle is the epitome of Disney Princess in every other way.
Jasmine and Belle are my favorites. Mulan might have been up there if I had watched the movie when I was younger. I had a Jasmine halloween costume that I practically lived in when I was a kid. That kind of stuff gets ingrained in your soul.
