I have this same enraging thought-process about baby clothes. Do you know how hard it is to find gender neutral baby clothes? I am convinced they do not exist unless they are made by hand.
I agree with Shlup and foa. These entrenched gender roles about what little boys and little girls ought to like or do is infuriating. And they're constantly reinforced by blissfully unaware, otherwise perfectly nice and well-meaning people. Why is this issue so difficult to recognize?
That being said, when I was a kid, if you touched my LEGOs to waste in goddamn soap, you would've lost the finger.
