If there really is a box and an island and this isn't a metaphor for another existential crisis I would hope there is a bottle of gin. So as long as I don't open the box the bottle of gin is simultaneously in there and not in there which I accept as more enjoyable a scenario than the likeliness that the box probably contains a single shoe that doesn't even fit or go with what I am wearing for that matter.
