I played the American-released main games in order. I, IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, and XII. I have not beaten the last two as they were ruined by main characters who force me to lose interest. X is also hampered by a horribly written story with annoying non-main characters. Have no tried X-2 or XIII (any)
I think I played Tactics after VII, but not positive if it was before VIII. I played Crystal Chronicles when it first came out, whenever that was. And then immediately swore off that entire side-series
Randomly tried V and Mystic Quest, but to little avail. I emulated V at some point long ago, and then got the Anthology release. Had trouble getting invested both times
And Tactics Advance annoyed me very early in the game as well

FF7, tactics, 8, 9, 10, 10-2, 11, ffta, 12 and A2, then revenant wings, 13, and very little of 13-2.
I've dabbled a bit with 1-6 over the years but haven't devoted enough time to them yet.

In order of when I first played them, not when I beat them.
X, IV, X-2, VII, VIII, VI, XII, IX, V, XIII.
I think that was the order (yeah, I was all over the place)
-
1. VII
2. VIII
3. I, II, III, IV, V, VI
4. X
5. XII
6. XI
7. XIII
8. XIV
9. IX
As for completing...
1. VII
2. VIII
3. X
4. XII
5. XIII
6. V
7. I
8. VI
9. II
10. IX
Next: IV, then III.

I missed the SNES era, so I played them in this order...
I
(9-year gap)
VII
Anthology (think I started V, got stuck, then played VI, then went back and figured out V)
VIII
IX
Origins?
X
Chronicles (can't remember where this came in, honestly - I probably got it whenever it came out)
X-2
...etc. as they have been released from that point forward
-
VIII, VII, IX, X, X-2, VI, V, IV, I, II, XII, III, XI, XIII, XIII-2. It was kind of a weird order.
