I haven't even played that much of IX, and I know this is the right answer. I grew up watching my bro play FFIX, so I remember Freya and Beatrix fondly. That being said I still have a soft spot for Tifa, and I've come around drastically for Aeris (seriously, she's a lot better than I remembered).

Going with Garnet! Even as a chick she had the balls to break away from a tyrannous mother and forge her own path. Had a great personality even if deep down she wanted Zidane to bone her. The power of Eidolons with her, and a name change to Dagger solidified her "bad-assery".
