The weapons in this game are confusing. The having one in each hand (monks use staves, what?). But then getting my black mate a new rod doesn’t increase her magic attack? And de-equipping doesn’t lower it? What’s the point?

Which is why it’s not always best to go with swords, because you get your special up with a sword by hitting enemies, whereas for a rod special you have to cast spells
