If we're allowed to choose albums as well...Pink Floyd's Wall would be the most superior tale of the rise and fall of an artist.
But if we're speaking of just a song...
Lucky Man - E.L.P.
Cats in the Craddle - Cat Stevens
Labyrinth - Chapter 1. I think it's about Louis the XIV falling in love with Catherine the Great, even though as far as I know according to history, Louis the XIV never fell in love with Catherine the Great. o___o It's a good song, tho.
on the contrary, the large majority of rap DOES tell a story. at least old-school rap.Quote:

i also wouldn't say that a song has to tell a story to be a REAL song.
I was talking about mainstream rap now. Atleast 75% of the time they don't tell a story. A song doesn't need to tell a story for it to be a real song. I just refuse to call mainstream rap an art form.

The Pickle song by Arlo is very good too. (you know..."I don't want a pickle, I just wanna ride on my motorsickle")
Yeah, Irish songs. Two that have been done by Dropkick Murphys that I can think of now are Rocky Road to Dublin and Wild Rover. (and it's no, nay, never...no nay never, no more)
Some mainstream rap (OutKast) is indeed very good music. Don't be so closed-minded.Quote:
