In World War Two, US generals were concerned about working alongside British forces, because a British general is a higher equivalent rank than a US general. They were going to change the US designation to "field marshall", so that there'd be less confusion about who was the leader of each force. But this was opposed by a certain US general who didn't want to become "Field Marshall Marshall".

It's strange... during FFVII, Reeve appears to be a very senior member of Shinra's management, even though he's officially the "Director of Urban Development", yet he also wears a Turks uniform. I'm guessing that, by the time FFVII begins, he's no longer an operational member of the Turks, and has branched out into intelligence-related activities in other Shinra areas. Urban Development can be closely tied to monitoring and screening the population, so he might be handling that...
He seems to be a central figure in Before Crisis, maybe that game will explain how and when his sense of morality drove him away from the Turks work carried out by the likes of Reno, Rude, Elena and Tseng...

Except for Reno, who goes around out of uniform anyway, the Turks wear blue suits with black ties. Reeve wears a blue suit with an orange tie.

As you can see, there's a huge difference.

Reno's in uniform, just shabbily dressed. He's left his tie off and has his shirt untucked. Otherwise, though, he's got the same threads as his colleagues. Also, as far as I recall, every Turks member has a blue suit and red tie, just like Reeve. That's what I remember, anyway.

On what do you base that?[/q]I'm just assuming that's his face in that article, beneath Rufus and Tseng. If it actually is him, then the company he's keeping would suggest a certain significance.

Like I said before, that guy below Rufus and Tseng is Kyara Weld or something. Besides, a look at him will tell you he's too old to be Reeve, especially predating FFVII.

Being in uniform means strictly following the uniform code down to the smallest detail. Even having your shoelaces untied means being "out of uniform."

I checked, and the colors I gave are correct. The Final Fantasy Compendium has plenty of pictures of Reeve and each of the Turks, including in-game shots as well as character art, so you can see for yourself. You can also use it to verify that Reeve is pretty young in FFVII, and a look at Vincent when he was a Turk will show you that the uniform didn't change between then and in the present. (Look under Characters, then under FF7 Characters.)

Reeve doesn't look especially young in the FFCompendium art, especially not with that groomed, full beard. If they're starting to use Tseng's surname, maybe Kyara-Weld is the rest of Reeve's name somehow?

What's more puzzling about that article is the fact that Elena appears to have a prominent role, when in FFVII she was a rookie who got thrown in the deep end when Reno was taken out of action. It'll be interesting to see how she's written into the story...

They didn't bring her back to life. The FFVII world got destroyed by the heartless before the point of Aeris's death. Did nobody else figure it this way?
The way I see it, once the heartless ordeal is all done with, everything will turn back to normal, as if nothing ever happened.

As for the picture. The outfit looks a lot like Aeris's, so I'm gonna' assume it's her until proven otherwise. I mean, Sephiroth came back, why not Aeris?

it is a diffrent game. The ordeals in FFVII have NOTHING whatsoever to DO with Kingdom Hearts.At all.The fact that Cid,Yuffie,Aerith and Cloud are all from one game is just because the creators decided to toss them into a completly DIFFRENT game. Aeris and clouds ASSUMED romance is just that-ASSUMED in Kingdom Hearts.They know each other because the creators probably wanted to bring these framilyer faces back and if they DIDNT know each other then the FF fans would be VERY upset.it is not at all on the same lines as FFVII!...

I don't know that Reeve has anything to do with the Turks... the article said that the new character is Verd or Veld or something to that effect; something of a mentor to Tseng. And the two characters in the logo are NOT Reno or Elena; the girl just has an uncanny resemblance... and it wouldn't make sense, storyline wise, if it really WAS her.

What... they have surnames??! I had no idea... what are they?

And I'm just thinking the Aeris bit is a flashback or a figment of Cloud's imagination... like he just really wishes she was still there with him (but she's still very much dead). On the AC side, there is one picture of Reno, as well as a horribly dark picture of Rude, Reno and Cloud; and the orphan kid on the bottom goes by the name Denzel. And that's basically it.

It hasnt been said that sephiroth is back. And i think Vincent might be a turk in Before crisis. that would be so kool! :)

There was no FFVII 'world'. They were all from (SPOILER)Hollow Bastion, including Squall.

Tonight my friends and I made a sacred pact. If Aerith is ressurected or some similiarily stupid stunt, we're not going to buy AC. We'll download it, watch it, burn it, and generally mooch, but we wont buy it. *nods*

I never expected Square to correct the mistake Sony made of mistransliterating Bullet's name, but they could at least be consistent with the mistake. First Barret, now Barett. And then there's Tifa "Lockhart."

As for Loz, Yazoo, and Kadaj, there must have been a million other ways of transliterating those names that would not have sounded so stupid. Yazoooo!
