Not very common, although there are certain landmarks in our town which date back to the early members of my family. The park and local hat works are named after them, for instance.

Definitely.

It's quite possible that a couple of them are my relatives, although I obviously don't know them. One half of the family moved to New Zealand in 1886, and you can find their webpage here. The other half stayed in the UK, and I'm a result of that.

This one really disturbed me. It's from Torkington Park in Hazel Grove, which is located approximately 5 minutes from my house. I used to play in this "Secret Garden" as a child, so it was weird for me to see it here on the Internet.

My name is originally polish, it was changed in the 1940s when my grand parents came to england and no one could spell the name it also made it safer for them, this was the middle of WW2 and it looked german otherwise.
