There is always the option of, y'know, logging off of AIM, or turning your speakers off, or turning your computer off.

Just a suggestion.

When i have the volume up, it gets staticy, so I can't forget...

oh god i know how you feel. this friend of mine has a really obnoxious sound, its someone from coldplay doing this vocal thing...anyway ill have my volume down lower than normal, then SHE'LL sign on and itll scare the crap outta me....im considering asking her to change it >__<

I use MSN, so all's I get is a funny chime noise. And I usually keep the volume low, cuz I work in a VERY loud shop, and like a bit of peace...

Gmail Notifier is silent, but deadly. :)

Don't eat at the PC and I really wouldn't know I don't get many private messages. (That is what we're talking about right?).
