I like either two warriors, red mage and black, or warrior two blacks and a red mage
Here's my party. It is, for all it's worth, complete, as I've finished the game and found all the treasure already.
Red Wizard: Lalibo
Lv. 81
HP 931
MP 891
Knight: Arus
Lv. 82
HP 999
MP 392
White Wizard: Mikoto
Lv. 81
HP 999
MP 751
Black Wizard: Topapa
Lv. 81
HP 837
MP 919
These are the values I finished the game with. Unfortunately, I used that stupid "Game Clear" option, so all I can see are what was there after I beat Chaos. I can't remember all of them exactly, but I know for a fact that both my WW and BW had 999 max HP, and the BW had 999 max MP. Another interesting note: After I was finished with the Elemental Shrines, my Gil was stuck at 999999. I bought a few ethers and Hi-potions, but got all the money I spent right back in the chaos shrine. Kinda takes the fun out of earning money, you know? :/
I've experimented a bit with parties, and so far my favorite is Warrior, Thief, White Mage and Black Mage. In that party, you have three heavy hitters and one support character, which works out well.
I tried Red Mage, I just can't stick with them for very long...they tend to get really crappy HP and MP growth for me. The Monk has a similar problem, but with a white mage on the team who heals the Monk all the time, I find that it works decently, and the monk does do pretty good damage.
ALL WHMS yes i was that bord i used this in the first ff fo nes and it was loads of fun and again it was fun but sadly you have to be far higher lv and you wont be able to beat some of the new bosses but on the brite side undead enimies dont stand a chance iv also gone with war/thf/rdm/blm 8 bit theater style actualy this was the first party i used on this lol i got bord and gave my blm ultima sword and went and killed chaos with him
I've never really experimented with parties, although I don't see why everyone likes the theif so much, personally I think that teh theif doesn't have very good hp gain, and in nes version only gets up to lvl 4(?) BM spells, lvl 3 with DoS. So really I don't see why everyone likes them so much. I personally like a Fi/BB/WM/BM party. You have the defence and attack power of the fighter, the raw attack power of the master, healing spells of WM, and offencive spells of BM, a relitively easy party. Only problem is the BB low defence, and it always seems like he;s the one who gets hit all the time. I'm also using a ROM to try a BB/BB/BB/Fi party, I haven't got far enough so my BB's kick ass, but they are getting close.
The party I'm using on DoS (Fi/bb/wm/bm) is the first I've been able to beat Chaos with, though DoS is way easier than the NES version of FF. On my old NES my team of Fi/Rm/Wm/Bm wasn't that good. I don't really like the rm either, they don't do that much physically, and they can't get all the best Wm/Bm spells.
So yeah, my favorite party would have to be the Fi/BB/Wm/Bm party. Its got attack power, and magic power, a pretty even distribution. Though I do need to go back through the final dungeon and get the Measume for my Wm so she can have some attack power.
Also I would like to note on the magical items that cast spells for you. I think they suck, period. You hve to ahev them equipped to use them, taking away from your def/att power. Though I am stating this in the easy as hell DoS pov. They are a little better in the original version, but not much. I normally just sell them/throw them away. Though using a solo party of soemthing of that sorts I would guess they are a whole lot more useful.
My first DoS game was very different for me. I usually focus more on physical attacks but this time I picked Thief/WHM/BLM/BLM.
Warrior/Theif/White Mage/Black Mage
My theif/ninja did far more damage than my warrior/knight did for most of the game O.o
My standard party ever since I played FFI is always been:
Fighter, Red Mage, White Mage and Black Mage. I am thankfull to the makers of the game, cause my Black Mage in pshycial attacks as strong as my Fighter. That totally rocks. Especially now my Black Mage has a higher HP then my Red Mage.
My second party always is:
Fighter (I should learn to say Warrior I know), Thief, Monk and Red Mage.
I didn't finish the game with this one yet so, I am still maybe in for some suprises. It's said to be cheaper on the magic.
If I ever finish that second party, I am going a 8-Bit Theather party, namely:
Fighter, Black Mage, Thief and Red Mage. But that is for in the future.
I started a rdm, whm, blm, blm And my only regret is taking the rdm. Would have been better with a Fighter,BB or Thief.
Nuke Currently does 600+ Damage
My whw level 66 has maxed hp, my rdw has 700 hp, my first blw has 680 and second has 560. maxed mp on both blws, almost on whw and 670 on rdw.
I have the excalibur sitting in my inventory, sad that i can't use it.
First party was my classic Fighter/Thief/White Mage/ Black Mage. I was kinda dissapointed at how easy it felt, but overall it was very enjoyable.
My current one is Fighter/BlackBelt/Red Mage/White Mage. It's a little harder than the other and the Red Mage, while better than FFI, still seems to be dragging.
Plan on doing a Thief/White Mage/ Black Mage/ Black Mage once I beat Chaos with my current party.
Knight
Lv. 99
HP: 999
MP: 413
White Wizard
Lv. 99
HP: 999
MP: 817
Red Wizard
Lv. 99
HP: 999
MP: 744
Black Wizard
Lv. 99
HP: 895
MP: 999
And of course... White Wizard is equipped with Masamune, :p
And my worst party of all time is 4 Black Belts. They guzzle potions, like my first car did to gas (it got 12 mpg)
The best party is a well rounded one.
Fighter, Blk Blt, B Mage, W Mage
But you can replace the BB with a Thief and still fare pretty well.
But keep in mind that at lvl 40 or so, the Master (BB after Bahamut) can hit around 20 times in one shot, even more when hasted. Seriously, he hits for about 800 or so on most monsters. Just don't give him a weapon. He's way more powerful with just his hands.
Feion
Actually, I was referring to the fact that you cannot heal with them unless you use items. So having a party of 4 would be a waste of:
GP,
Potions,
Time,
Effort,
etc...
I'm well aware how powerful they are.
My party for FF1 dos, will always be the warrior Ken, the monk Naruto, the black mage Seko, and the white mage Sakura. They seem to be the best party so far I think.
