Nah, the baby's probably fine. They don't just turn retarded, though depending on the age of the fetus and stage of its development it may have some difficulty. A baby can survive premature birth as early as 26 weeks (out of... 35 ideal weeks of pregnancy, unless I've forgotten). If they baby was alive when they found it, that probably means its lungs developed fine and it'll be alright.

There may be an issue if it had trouble breathing for awhile; lack of oxygen to the brain can cause perminant retardation. I don't think that's the case though. I wish the article had said how far along the pregnancy was though because I'm half asleep and don't want to search for it.

You have to consider the horrible pain she must have caused to all who were close to him and all who were close to the woman she murdered.

I take back the death by torture thing but I think she should get a lethal injection.I dont think it would be fair for the family of the murdered Bobbie Jo Stinett that such a monster would be let live.

My opinion on what she deserves is based on whatever medical evidence is found as to her sanity. Sane or not, she IS a threat to society, and should be removed from it. If she is sane, then I would certainly support the death penalty as the crime was undoubtedly an evil one. But is it really right to execute someone who has mental problems and function correctly? I don't think so. That's no better than trying to murder a foetus.

A question to those who support life imprisonment: Why do you want a worse punishment for the woman? The way I see it, she needs to go to jail for life, not to be punished, but to keep her crazy ass from doing something stupid again.

I see it the same way. I don't believe a state has to go punishing, it seems paternalist to me. I just believe they have to prevent more problems from happening.

She is obviously mentally ill, and I think she should be committed to an asylum for life.

Maybe the woman does deserve the death penalty. I won't argue that. I will however, argue that there is no human on the planet who is in a lofty enough position to carry it out. No one is so far advanced that they are good enough to kill someone, regardless of what she did. That is why I oppose the death penalty, because there is not a person on the planet who has the right to kill her, even if she deserves it.

I aint so sure about that.She might just be a selfish cruel person who doesnt care about others.Likely though she is mentally ill...but that is for the court to decide.

However terrible a crime it is, and how I am inclined to agree with you, I just do not support the death penalty at all. Perhaps it's mean of me to say it, but it's an easy way out, life imprisonment, to me, always seemed a much harsher sentence.

I don't think it's particularly fair to execute people with mental problems (the Nazis actually did), I also don't think it's fair for them to be able to have the ability to commit such crimes in the first place, and as such should have a chance at being cured of their mental problems. Mental problems or not though, I don't think it excuses what took place.

not as a sinlge voice, but as a collective, a race we can decide that she is unfit to be apart of that race by trying to remove others from it. Kill her, stone her dead. Its also a great deterant.
