I think it's gonna be another 'Catwoman'.
I hope not. The look of the film, at least, is unique enough to keep it from completely being a waste of money and talent in my opinion, but we shall see.
Maybe it's just me, but I've found it very hard to picture Ms. Alba with anything but dark hair, so seeing her new blonde look shocked me quite a bit.
Take care all.
I would very much like to see this, but, unfortunatly, I make it a point not to watch rated R movies. The only one I have seen is the Passion of the Christ. However, it looks good, which makes me sadder. :(
This movie is freaking great! From the second the movie started this movie had me hooked.
The style and presentation were sweet, the action was awesome(you can tell Quentin Tarentino helped with the action), and the story just pulled me in.
So, I think it's obvious that I liked it. What did you guys think of it?
There's another thread on this movie.
Anyways, for the question at hand...I think Sin City looks "okay." I haven't really anticipated a movie since Matrix Reloaded, so eh.
Threads merged.
And yes.
SO. AWESOME.
Just came back from the theater, and I'm still whirling from what I just saw. All I can say is that this film is explosive.
And yeesh, it certainly earned it's R rating.
Loved the cheesy dialogue, loved the crazy cool characters, loved how perfectly every frame was composed, and shot.
And Miho, holy fem fatale batman, she was insane. I thought that Marv had the most engaging story, and I invested in him more than anyone else. I loved the raw, primal and fierce storyline of Gail and Dwight and the sick twisted one of Kevin and Yellow Bastard. I really can't find a weak link in ANY of the characters. Even the ones with incredibly small screentime were fan-friggen-tastic (The guy with the swastika on his head sent me into a giggling fit).
I had to look away a few times cause some of the violence was just too much (particularly at the very end when Hartigan takes away Yellow Bastard's..."weapon"). But other times the violence was just so hysterical in it's extremity (ie: when Marv goes on his rampage).
Loved it, can't stop thinking about it, never seen anything like it.
One complaint I might have is the the editing could've been a bit tighter. I noticed people fidgeting toward the end when things began to slow down rather than pick up (although the film sorta steamrolls it's way through the story so that even at the end, things aren't exactly "slow").
The movie is relentless. I wouldn't advise anyone shy of violence and sex to watch this movie. There's also a LOT of laughs in this movie, more than you'd think.
If you go into this wanting something realistic, you're in for a helluva let down. It's campy, it's fun, it's over-the-top.
The actors are relishing it, and the audience should too.
It's one wild ride, that's for sure.
Well said, I had a great time. One of the best films I've seen in months.
Maybe i'll have to give this movie a shot? I haven't seen a movie in quite a while, so maybe it's time I went and saw one.
Superb. That's all I have to say. This is what movies based off of comics should be. Done to a tee.
Very very good movie in every manner. I recommend it to everyone.
Just got back from the movie, and I wasn't disappointed. Great, great film.
I just got back as well. I'd have to say it's one of the worst films I've ever seen.
In my opinion, the whole thing was extremely distasteful; I thought it was going to be classy, noir, from I saw of the trailers. On the contrary, it was totally disgusting and repulsive. (SPOILER)I really, really, didn't want to see anyone's "weapon" get ripped off with hands, or see a dog eat its old master, (who was a cannibal, as we saw) or have to watch about half the actors covered in blood the entire time. :) It seemed to bring out all the worst in humans. I'm not the squeamish kinda girl at all, but this crossed the line.
Perhaps this was because of my never reading the comic, but the three stories didn't seem connected at all (besides the Nancy bit), which was disappointing, and boring. Josh Hartnett popping in and out for no apparent reason didn't help.
I did like Clive Owen and Bruce Willis, as they played their parts great, and I'll definitley agree that the way it was filmed was great.
Other than that, the whole experience, for me, was disgusting. But you know, it's just a movie, and it really....doesn't matter.
:D
It's unfortunate that it wasn't enjoyable for you. Personally, I am very happy to see a film that doesn't hold back whatsoever, but I can very easily see how this movie can just be plain disgusting to someone else.
I guess that's what I like about it.
this movie was awesome, although i expected better from it after seeing their kickass trailer. its still worth watching.
to not get any spoilers out, all you really need to know is that your either gonna love it or hate it.
