I think they are noble creatures. Even chimps, and I'd even go so far as to say gorillas. Hell, why not baboons too.

The best reason is, when one gets addicted to smoking, if they smell cigarettes on a human then they'll clamber on him and her and beat them until cigarettes come out. Awesomeness.

Actually monkeys in the real world are really quite vicious. Some profs of mine lost fingers because they leaned their hand in a monkey cage while tying their shoe. In a zoo once a bunch of chimpanzees got loose, and killed 2 biologists. Like, killed and ate. I'm in vet school and we had a lecture that can be summed up as: "Monkeys can friggin' kill you."
