Well, Joel has figured out one thing they may revisit, and one story twist they may add. And they're making an entire fighting game for it.
I'll stick with the original Mortal Combat, thanks.

Yes, 4 different 'series.' (with what? 3 games each?) i.e. 4 different looks and inconsequential back stories the same game over and over had.Quote:

Looks cool, the thing is some of the KoFs were not up to par say the earlier ones and the recent ones with the tag team that lets you continue combos. The main thing is, if theres enough fanbase and enough people willing to play it to a high level, its a successful fighting game. To me most of the KoFs were just getting polished, it gets a little better with each one except the last one i feel.
Fighting games since SF2 brung out something to the gaming industry that was unfounded before, and thats the desire for human competition. We like new things :P We dont diss your 14+games of FF, you dont diss our whatever number of fighting games(which just like FF had less than spectacular ones in the series).
Human competition has been a major aspect of video games since the very first one.
But it has never generated a real huge impact unlike fighting games(or rather has it ever had such staying power). Its almost that feeling of head to head action and butting skills. You rarely see a guy going HA I OWNED YOU AT PONG or MARIO PARTY! But seeing someone going i owned you at xxx fighting game is much more common and its more intense and head on and has that feeling of skill involved to it. You also get that drive to get better and its kinda like how Ryu is pictured at times, trying to be one of the best you can be.
The only other genre i can say has the similar aspects are FPS games and certain Strategy games which includes but is not limited to, Pokemon and Trading Card games. Fighting games IMO just made Arcades and some console(and soon online) genres flourish and stick out as a main conponent to me.
Here's the character roster. Kishi's wish came true.
