Personally, I find it rather stuck up for the Homo Sapien race to apply the term "Human" solely to themselves. We use things like the capacity for sentience and complex thought and the ability to feel and to sympathize with others as ways of defining what is to be "Human," yet on shows like Star Trek where there are so many different races and species with all those characteristics, only the Earthlings get categorized as "Human." I think it's silly and arrogant, so I prefer to refer to Homo Sapiens as just that.Quote:

That's what I liked a great deal about Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. The Homo Sapien race is simply called "the race of Man."
