Damn book made me weep

Rainbow Six. I read about half of it (which I think is like 400-500 pages) and nothing happened.

Heart of Darkness, despite being deceptively tiny, is insane. Reading it is like entering a zone where time slows to a crawl and each word is excruciating agony.

Wow. With the exception of Interview Woth the Vampire (I haven't read it yet) I agree with everything stated above. I love LotR, but all the books, especially The Two Towers, took forever. I think I took almost a year to read that, which is totally nuts.

Oh, and Spindle's End, by Robin McKinley. Took forever to get anywhere. Anywhere interesting.

Gravity's Rainbow, although it was very cool, still longer than hell.

The Two Towers. When you spend pages upon pages talking about the hills they're running over and can make the battle of Helm's Deep exceedingly boring, you know this book has gone on long enough.

Rubah knows the score. Also Portrait of a Lady by Henry James. Oh LORD.

Travels Through Sacred China. Non-fiction, which I usually prefer to fiction. China, which is one of my favorite cultures to learn about. The book was, however, about as interesting as counting the number of crumples in a sheet of corrugated iron. The worst thing, however, was that when the auther wrote from his perspective, and lent his thoughts and experiences, it was incredibly good. If only more of the book were like that.

the bone people is a brilliant piece of literature, but I've still barely made any progress in it. I bought it in 2002 - recommended reading for a literature paper at uni - and it's still sitting on the shelf, waiting to be finished...
