Squall is just a typical Scorpio. Grouchy and actually very emotional but refuses to show it until they have a mental breakdown.

Squall is a nice guy deap down. He just acts this way for fear of rejection. But Even in disk 1 we see his nicer side (The scene with RInoa after the Fight with them 2 monsters) I like Squall, Because in a way I was a lot like him for a while... (Ironicaly I'm sort of changing the same way he did...Letting "someone" int my life...)
He probably doesn't socialize with people because everyone he has ever loved or cared for when he was a child left him alone. He probably avoids contact with people to avoid being hurt-altogether i'd say that he was just protecting himself. I kinda know how he feels... I think he would only socialize properly with someone he REALLY loved or had know for so long and so well that they are just "part of the furniture".
Squall's character was a big childhood-trauma/angst caricature.
I never noticed him holding hands with Irvine.
his clothing choice still bothers me. i always wanted to keep him in the SeeD uniform lol.
Squall did not hold hands with Irvine.
So true...Quote:

And Squall and Irvine NEVER held hands. I was watching every scene just in case.

Uh, yes they do. It's in that part of the parade sequence on disc 1, when the camera pans up from the sewers and Squall and Irvine are in the foreground of the crowd. Squall looks over at Irvine (who is obviously petrified) and they are holding hands.
That's the thing though. There are so many moments in the game - even before disc three - where Squall shows emotion and romantic interest in Rinoa. You just have to pay attention (and make the right choices). Just look at his facial expression when Rinoa leaves him on the dance floor: gutted and reeling from the experience. You'd have to be blind not to see it!
Uh, NO they aren't. There is nothing even remotely resembling hand holding there.Quote:

YES, they are. I've attached some screencaps of them holding hands that I took with WinDVD.
Still not satisfied?! Then you can download the FMV that includes their hand-holding at Blue Laguna. Here's the link: http://bluelaguna.net/downloads/fmvs/ff8/1/Edea's%20Parade%20Part%201.avi
It's at they very beginning of the video. Squall and Irvine are in the foreground at the very back of the crowd. The camera pans over them very quickly, so you'll have to pause the video. Max out the size. Look carefully and don't be narrow-minded. If you still can't see it, then you must be blind.
Edited to add: it's pretty dark, but you can still make the guys out. Does anyone know how to light screencaps? I have some really big ones, but there are size restrictions for the attachments on these forums. But like I said: watch the video on windows media player, at size 200%, and pause it.
Their arms are in a V-shape; their fingers can be made out curled around each other; Squall looks over at Irvine.
