Silent Hill 2. I realize it wasn't scary in the slightest (well, I guess compared to it's previous), but it was a fantastic and very original horror game. I would not have complained if there was just a little less running around, though.
EDIT: D'oh. PSX. That's what I get for staying up late.

I would have liked Silent Hill 2 a bit more if it had made a little more sense. At least you knew why the guy in the first one knowingly walked into the nightmares. The guy in SH2, just because he was crazy I guess. That's why it didn't seem that scary to me. The guy just pranced into town on his own accord. It gives you a feeling that he knew what he was doing.

RE2 was the most out-and-out fun IMO.
But SH was the scariest. Gave me the worst nightmare of my life.
-
Can't make up my mind between RE2, RE3, SH and Clock Tower. SNIPPETY SNAP.
-
Clock Tower 2.
Clock Tower on the SNES was pretty scary, CT2 just brought it up a notch.
-
Ok, fine. I meant Clock Tower 2. Forgot about the SNES one. :D
-
It was only CT2 in Japan though, it was CT in Europe and the US, so you're forgiven.
I'm just a pedantic bastard.

I find RE2 lame now. Ive played through it several times, and I have no incentive to play it again on PS1 ever again. It's just too short and boring to me.
I would say Silent Hill. It's really long, one hell of a challenge even with the secret weapons on Hard Mode, and it's bloody scary. The biggest fright I had from playing it was the possessed school, in the locker room (You know what im talking about, those who got to that point.) I would it again any time. The last location is really cool, especially how you have no map. When I played the demo, I instantly wanted this game. The demo was great, it wsnt some cheap one small level demo, it was the whole school, although different from the actual game.
Like Cookieface, I think Silent Hill is much better than the other three. SH2 didnt really scare me, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. SH3 is bloody scary, even with the Unlimited Sub-Machine Gun and Lightsaber, I get butterflies when playing it. SH4 was not scary, and sort of lame, but the Hospital, that room with the moaning gave the biggest fright ive ever had, because since the camera shows a hole, I ran right into the room, only to have the camera turn around, and ARGGHHHHHHHH! (You who have seen it know what I mean, right?) The apartment getting the occasional Demonic Incursion was damn cool too.
I enjoyed Resident Evil 3 to some extent, but it was too short, and didnt live up to what I had heard and read about it. If RE games were a lot longer, as in Silent Hill 1 length, I would feel more inclined to play them. RE4 is great, but i need to REALLY concentrate on it.

silent hill without a doubt. hard time figuring what the hell was going on though afterwards.
-
I still rate Resi 3 high
just after Re2 and SH....
-
me an my sis love clock tower 1 for the psx clock tower 2 for the psx, the one with the zombies on was quite poo i thought, the first level with the little girl scared me.
I was shakin the firt time i played RE2 but now when i play a RE i love blowing heads off :D
Silent hill was scary, i didnt know was happening till i played it the second time, the hell side of the school is the scariest place i think.

Disney racing...
those songs gave me nightmares.
-
Silent Hill... those sound effects were dead on. I'd still hear them after I was done playing. I thought the gameplay mechanics were spot on also. Harry was barely faster than his predators, horrible shot, no stamina...
*fires up the PSX*

Silent Hill, definitley. Although that might be my least favorite out of the whole series, it's still better than any other PSX horror game I've played. Which consists of RE1, and only RE1. >=D
Why does it have to be PSX? :(
