Israel was NEVER a Communist nation - mildly Socialist, at best... and even that only because people thought they had to depend on each other. The Kibbutzim, which practiced softcore Communism, were bankrupt and ruined less than three decades after the actual state and government have risen. Also, very few Israelis actually lived in the Kibbutzim.

Israel would be the last place Communism could work in. Jews love their money and independance\individuality far too much.

There's definitely connection, but it's an extreme and not directly related to the discussion at hand- as it hadn't been mentioned and wasn't remotely headed towards before FFguerera's comment.

the government talks two ways about uni. it wants more people in further eduation (not university college/apprenticeships and other training/education) but it is making university more expensive with top up fees.

and that statue honours every hero britain has. it is their because of what they fought for. do you think the nazis would have had such a statue? it is their honouring every man who fell for the right for all people to be accepted.

Neither works well.

With Communism, the assumption is that the people who will be running the system are basicly good people who will run the collective to the benefit of all concerned. Unfortunately, Mr. Marx doesn't seem to understand the human animal real well. Anybody in a position of power with very few controls *will* use that power to get more money etc. for themselves. It just happens.

With Capitalism, the assumption is largely the same. The corpotartions will run things ethically and therefore society prospers. Well, Enron pretty much proves that theory wrong as well. If the corp. is honest no problem, but the thing is that they can and do lie pretty often and thus they make themselves rich.

The best solution is to mix the two. So when Captialism is dishonest, the state comes in to smack them and tell them to behave. When the state comes in and harrasses businesses for no good reason, the business can inform the public who can work to change the law.

Of course this only works when the government is a democracy or a republic, and an uncorrupt one at that.

Right. Know why? Two reasons; Cut down on unemployment figures (People in uni aren't counted as unemployed.) and more money (Thus, higher fees.).

I can understand the perspective. But I disagree with it; I feel that in most other places it'd be fine, though I still wouldn't like it (Why's she gotta be naked, for instance?); point is, Trafalgar Square should have the most heroic people we have available to us. We've got a thousand years of history to pick from, I've already suggested a modern example.

she is naked for the samr reason it is in white marble. it is a point regarding other portrait statues most notably the greek ones which were naked and of the perfect human being.

Oh, you must have absolutely hated it, being that it stood for freedom of man.

i have nothing against freedom. it's injustice i have issues with.

Pure anything sucks because people are corrupt by nature and will abuse the system. The form is a mix of it all. Pure capitalism? SUCKS! Look at how it was. ty wages for all but the top and not a whole lot people could do about it. With the government adding more and more socialist stuff to the laws it became more balanced but now the government is reaching the level of corruption that is intolorable and it needs to be redone with all new people again...or just have a few people who will do what is right and fix everything in one huge bitch slap.

Taken to their extreams, both suck.
