Any sequel to FFVI would have to be done without magic. As our dear friend Ashley pointed out, Magicite was wiped out when our heroes took down Kefka and the statues.
Although...
Do they ever mention that all of the Espers were turned into Magicite?
We don't know if all of the espsers were turned into magicite, but I do believe that any remaining espers, magicite, magic, etc... disappeared from the land. That's why the party was so worried about Terra, as she is half esper.
Yeah, Mullet has it. Even if any Espers were left alive, they would have died because 'magic will disappear from this world'. Without the statues' power (which Kefka had taken, and then it was lost when he was defeated), magic could not exist in the world. Because Terra was half-Esper, she too would die... except that Maduin says that if her 'human side' is strongly attached to someone or something (the children), she could live on as a normal human. With her Esper half disappearing, it's logical that any full Esper would disappear as well.
See, now that the issue has been brought up, I wonder about it. The inscriptions on the Statues in Crescent Mountain said that Espers were really just humans that got caught in the crossfire a long time ago, right?
Isn't it possible that whatever Espers still hung around (assuming there were some) simply reverted to their previous figure instead of just disappearing?
Vut what about those on cresent island whom were able to use magic with out espers. ??
The people of Thamasa simply couldnt use magic anymore. "Magic will simply disappear from this world". That's what happened to the Mage Knights.
As for the Espers, Juan, those were the original Espers. As we see evidenced in Terra's flashback, the Espers do age and die, so they must be reproducing. I dont think the current Espers would turn into normal humans, given that they'd never been one. The only survivors would be like Tritoch... incased in ice or something of that nature.
The game also implies that Terra only survives because she has that human half. "If the human part of you is strongly attached blah blah blah."
Unless you came up with a reasonable explanation about the re-reappearance of magic on the scene. I think the prequel would make more sense myself. You could explain maybe that the espers are coming back! Why? Because there are humans who are turning into mutants (espers). And maybe this could be because there mitochondria are... oh wait, that would be parasite eve lol. Well I think I've joked long enough on here. Whatever you do, I'm sure it'll be amazing. Just PLEASE stick with it and don't quit. Everyone always starts there kinds of projects and never finishes them. If you'd like remixes of FF6 songs, or some help with midi, I've got garageband and keyboard and all sorts of recording junk here, and would be willing to help, if the project would actually be worked on. Actually, you could probably post something to see if people would help you out. I'd be willing.
THX GUYS!, we're going to make it, but now we're in a hard time to decide, what to make, my arguments on FFVI-2 (not to make it, that means) are working, but i think that a precursor to FFVI would be better,
OH and thx for the midis ill certainly want that!
Developing a prequel and a sequel would be fun stuff, once again my engine offer still stands(this saves you guys a load of work)
i think the programmers are going to use "rpg maker 2003" but you still can show us your engine ;]
