ff6 for me...the character sprites were just classic and actually conveyed emotions understandably and humorously. although the scenery and mode7 graphics are peanuts compared with ffx's gorgeous sunset skies, ff6's interior screens (like in towns or houses) have a certain homey, cozy feel to it reminiscent of chrono trigger (ff7 is also fabulous with its interiors). in short i think ff6 is the most beautiful because of the nostalgic charm that its graphics lend and if that enhanced the over-all feel of the game, which it did for me, then it's gorgeous. :)
Oh.... hmmm.... I must say overall, X is the most beautiful. Spira has this cheerful, bright feel to it all. And in all the FMV's... damn, how gorgeous!! I especially love the way Bevelle, Besaid, and Macalania Woods looked. And the characters all had very unique clothing and design.
IMO (please don't kill me...) VII was ugly mostly. It's very dark and gloomy looking, for the most part. Especially Midgar and Nibelheim, it was just.... gloomy and blah.
VIII was ok... nothing really sticks out in my mind as cool looking, well maybe Esthar is the only cool design. But everything else was just ok.
IX was pretty, the backgrounds and locations were cool, well the parts I saw anyway (I never finished IX). But the character designs.... ehhhh..... what were they thinking with some of them? The only ones that were good were Vivi and Garnet. Everyone else, yuck!
And so, there you go! X rocks! ;)
FFX has the best graphics, obviously, but also it has the best unifying themes. It has a lot of motifs that draw the areas closer
Well, and unfortunately, FFX was the only one on PS2 so.... if every FF had a remake on PS2 or PS3 or something, then we can really compare them.
chaos: Final Fantasy IX hands down. It was simply beautiful. At least in this game, there was more Fantasythan giant machines and technology.
Albedo: *laughs maniacally*
No FF1-FF3? Heathen!
