Joel, the X-Box live subscription that comes with the premium package of the 360 only gives limited online capabilities, such as watching other people play, and creating gamertags. You still need to pay for a real membership. ;)
And depending on your moral and ethical standpoints, you can always mug someone outside of Wal-Mart or Toys-R-Us on launch day, since they're having a first come first serve system. ;)
