Yeah just do the chocobo race and get the sigil/crest and the ultimate weapon, a lot faster and a lot easier.

Earning dark matters is more productive anyways. The best you can do with chocobo racing is earning some ethers and stuff before you get the sigil.
I actually did the stupid chocobo racing.. took me a few hrs I think.. Do I hate those birds... I think I got like 1 sec, or so 3 times b4 I finally managed to get 0.0... And did I get a good time I think I got like -19secs or some crazy stuff like that... I pushed the trainer aside somehow and got ahead of him, then I just took ALOT of those ballons and stayed clear of every single bird :D Damn lucky if you ask me!!
I would say you kinda have to do it.. at least to have the complete set of Legendary weapons, no matter if you´re not gonna use ´em all the time. Right now I´m working on the last 255s, Luck and Magic.. the "fun" ones.. and I´m also customizing my own weapons. I think Tidus got much better when I customized a new weapon for him, he deals out alot more dmg now than with Caladbolg. Also, his critical hit ratio seems to be higher now for some reason.
FFX just get silly after you get strong really.
You'll end up with 6 people with the exact same abilities (except overdrives) and equal status....
The same can be said for FFVI (to some extent), FFVII, FFVIII and FFX-2.Quote:

When the overdrives are used nearly as much as the other moves (And handily so) they can make or break a character.
I like rikku's overdrives because they can allow me to cast about four spells in one turn (light curtain x2)
Yuna's gets you access to about ten more players, auron's is the easiest to get and will serve you for a while, tidus and wakka's and lulu's give you multiple hits, but I'm just not sure about kimarhi's.
The precious time I fought many One-Eyes in 50+ battles in order to get Triple AP weapons to save my money and often get 2x Mag Def Spheres (50+ battles for fighting One-Eye = 99 Mag Def Spheres) rarely get 2x Dark Matters, overkill for all boses is a must!
Caldabolg comes with the added bonus that it increases in damage depending on how much HP Tidus has. Even with the BDL weapon with 255 Strength, you're still looking at around 40k damage tops. With Caldabolg and a whole lot of HP, you'll easily reach the 99,999 barrier.Quote:
