I always thought Dumb was about bliss in ignorance. It's a pretty direct song.

None of Nirvana's songs glorified self-hatred.

...but sometimes those same words cry out in my mind. but it's more like a rhetorical question.

Some of the song titles sure look like they do, though. I mean, "I hate myself and I want to die"?

Yeah, considering Cobain was tantamount to suicide it's hard not to infer that kind of thing from a lot of their songs.

The title of that song seems more like a joke than actual self hatred.

Yeah!! Why did you have to go Cobain!? WHY!!!!! And another good Nirvana song is "Heart Shaped Box". Best on that album...

I prefer Heart shaped box to dumb, but both are good. :)

Heart Shaped box is probably my favourite Nirvana song. It beats teen Spirit, it seems far more original (although Teen Spirit is still very good, it's just a bit over-hyped).
