Lollipops or suckers?

Here in the US MidWest, we call small, spherical candy on a stick 'suckers' and a large disc on a stick that cannot be put into the mouth is a 'lollipop'.

foa has it right. I don't like either, but a flat one is a sucker and a round one is a lollipop.

I've never used the work sucker to describe a lollipop ever.

And those things that Resha said to shut babies up, are called dummies over here. :D Well, in Scotland at least.

He has it wrong. The spheres are called 'suckers' because you SUCK them.
