I would build up Ifrit and Valefor's overdirve guage till they are full. Yuna doesn't really have to be in OD, but it does help. You can grandsummon Ifrit, use OD, then when it's his turn again, OD again.

If he does die, just sumon Valefor, and use his OD. That should do in Gui.

Be carefull if you use Yuna's OD because Gui gets a lot of turns after a overdrive and gets a lot of chances to kill your aeon.

oh does valefores sonic attack stop it and does the head stay dead

I'm pretty sure it's immune to sonic wing's effects. And yes the head stays dead

After an OD, Gui typically takes like 3 or 4 turns. The ars will die, so it usually attacks, then Demi's then regenerates the arms. Normally Ifrit doesn't die from this, so I heal him with fire.
