Well only reason i can see WHM/RDM is on certain specific mobs that require you to use Dispel over and over that your RDM or BRD cant handle...otherwise i agree yes.
The reason why FFXI has "Economy Problems" is that all the l33t gear in WoW is epic gear thats quested through instances, and that its ALL you need..the rest arent even comparable. Or something like that, FFXI doesnt have all the rare/ex gear be the bestest of the best, hence why there seems to be trouble.
Going from FFXI to WoW was a nice experience because FFXI is much harder than WoW. The only thing that I can say about wow is that it has a wonderful soundtrack. Graphics however I didn't like. The only thing I didn't like about WoW was it's community; most of them when you tried to ask something thought you were the biggest dumb buttocks in the world.
Now Guild Wars has both amazing graphics and music.
I'm aware of the argument that Equipment can make up for race. However, if a taru blm were to have the same equipment as a galka blm the Taru would still be a lot better (considering the players are of somewhat equal skill).
I know that certain combos are wanted for effectiveness, but it's a shame that people are prevented from playing the combos they want out of fear of being gimped and not wanted in a party. My friend wanted to be a hume Smn/Blm (Rydia fan), but of course that would mean nobody would party with her and she would often face being ridiculed by other players.
I personally didn't mind parting with "gimped" characters, although they rarely did come along. I'd prefer people to have fun with the combo they wanted rather than choose a certain combo for effectiveness.

Untrue, the difference is there, but its very slim and not really cared for. A BLM is a BLM, and can do awesome damage either way, Galka or Taru can easily break 1K and 1200 is not going to matter a whole bunch from a 1275 damage. Same thing for say a PLD, Taru is not ineffective as a tank, its just a different style of tanking(and PLDs depending on race is played and geared very VERY differently which affects party play alot for better or worst). An Elvaan THF will do less damage per Sneak Attack and Trick Attack however their STR bonuses can make up a little bit in between with Damage over time. So the real difference is...MP and HP end-game, and well theres lots of gear to help with that and no one is going be a bitch and not invite a Galka BLM or WHM. The only thing stopping me is bad experience with a player, OR good experience with another player that i am familiar with.Quote:

While it is somewhat the community's fault for certain aspects, theres also logic. With the way its designed would YOU want a SMN that can only do blood pacts for 1 minute and can throw resisted black magic in between that wastes MP? No right? Ridicule maybe some, but more likely most will try to help you out, then its up to you whether or not you deserve ridicule. There ARE ways to get odd combinations like NIN/BLM post 51 with Elemental Staves to work out, but you have to prove to the community its worthwhile. But seriously, what can a SMN/BLM do..? Not alot, and its in the party leader's best judgement for their party to invite someone. To invite someone that has a wierd combination that doesnt work out is just hurting you and 5 other people(the person included with odd combination that doesnt work out like WAR/SMN).Quote:

That being said, there are differnet subs that work, MNK/WHM chi blasting for MND stat, or DRK/NIN with Kraken/BloodWeapon/Souleater dmg on HNM, or SAM/RNG Ballista. Its not as limited as one would think.
Until you exp on Tigers or something like Torama and no one bothered to sub WHM so Paralyze and Silence screw you over because no other WHM was seeking..>_>Quote:

There's a still a difference, more damage and it can be casted more frequently. I'm sure if there was one spot left and both a Galka whm and a Taru whm wanted to join your party (equal skill), more people would choose the Taru. I wouldn't even put it past some players to kick a Galka whm out of the party in favour of a Taru.
I'm very aware of how combos such as that are ineffective, but I just dislike that the game makes them ineffective in the first place. I would've wanted a system that gives certain combination certain bonuses or something that would stop things from being useless, but that won't be happening.
I like the idea of a job/subjob system to allow more freedom, but while a lot of combos (and races) might still work there will still be another combo that is much more prefered in a party.
If it really matters so much about the difference lets also NOT invite a Hume BLM because they also cant cast as much or as damaging. Or lets not invite Hume AT ALL since they excel at nothing. >_> No one really cares these days...and i wont necessarily invite one or the others. Galka BLM or WHM tend to need more skill to play...they sometimes perform better than a nukehappy Taru one. Assuming theres equal skill theres also my mood depending on it...sometimes i invite DRG because people think its so crap, and i invite them because of that(i dont think they are crap).
That and theres no way to know skill unless you party with them...as long as one is good i am more likely to stick with that one. Jerks might kick out, but thats only jerks and they are in every MMO. I wouldnt dare kick anyone out as long as they are doing a decent job.
Well there ARE alot of bonuses...alot of your subjob abilities of geared right ARE very powerful. In fact it was so powerful they had to nerf certain things like Souleater or Meditate because otherwise its just TOO powerful...given the choices you have, i feel its VERY powerful as it is...any more might cause job imbalances and SE is all about balancing unlike WoW from what i see.
And again Race is not an issue anymore..people are beyond that stage...you will see a huge chunk of Galkan Mages out there these days and most are in a party. As well as Taru Melee...i know i will invite that Taru DRG again because he performed well. If you go to ffxionline i am pretty sure everyone will be telling you to not care, because you cant change your race...and pick the one you like best.
Well that's good on you, but i've come along a lot of players that are actually that close minded. As for the human thing, i'm not saying that nobody will invite someone based on race alone, but if a player is of similar skill and equipment then race would be a big deciding factor. As you've said, the race thing isn't that big of a deal since people can still get parties, i'm more upset about the combos.Quote:

I'm not saying to further buff the more solid combos, but the useless combo thing still annoys me. I appreciate your ability to see the plus sides of certain combinations but as i've already mentioned, i've come accross a lot of close minded players that still feel only 2 or 3 subs (at the very most) for a job are acceptable. Maybe things are a lot better in your server, but in certain FFXI forums and guides (to be fair, some are dated) the attitude seems to be the same.Quote:

Yeah they're jerks, but i've met a lot more jerks in FFXI than I have in WoW (which in all honesty, I haven't come across more than a few times). That experience doesn't really seem to be shared however.
I agree pretty much with this. I agree also that sometimes certain subs should be alot stronger at times, but somehow i feel a WAR/SMN should NEVER work xDDD...its just not good in that sense. But i like to think that, if you are doing an odd combo, and you prove that it works alot of the situations(or certain ones), welcome aboard to another viable option for us to choose from. That's not to say that I haven't met any other players such as yourself, but there are a lot of people like that.
Well Final Fantasy XI is more fun, vut the economy is dreadful. WoW, is more casual, and the grind is scary, and much more crowed in Ogrimmar(very much so) and Guild wars is free to play......for a MMO Harcore fan, I suppose FFXI
IMO i like WOW more :p
Ive got both and WoW gets my vote hands down. I enjoy it much more then I did with FF11. 11 annoyed me cause levelling up took forever and I didnt feel comfortable in its enviroment.

WoW is really awesome, I love the PvP and the easy leveling, and the neat quests, too. Well here goes... I'v been playing WoW recently, I got it about 2 months ago and have been playing it since and yes it is easyer to play then FFXI but in some cases (as is the such with me) I prefer a challenge, in my opinion if FFXI had the graphics of WoW id be as happy as a puppy who found a bone, yes I do prefer the graphics of WoW as in FFXI its all to real (cmon ask yourself which you would rather have graphics from FFVIII or FFIX I bet 9 times out of 10 it would be FFIX) and also when you start the game instead of fighting puny rabbits or hares you get to fight Wolfs which is another benifit of WoW, that aside I will be returning to Vana'diel as of tomorow becasue every time I play WoW I find myself getting board easyly and the monsters are to easy to kill I took my character to level 30 with blacksmithing to 225 (max of 300) in such a short time and since the new patch was relesed iv been getting loads of money (such as mineing copper bars which sell for 4 gold a stack) back when I started playing I was buying copper bars at 90 silver a stack so the economy has been all messed up so IMO both have merits and cons but FFXI has grabbed my attention and it wont let go.
Um FFXI is very anime-ish, their eyes are very anime and some of the emotions of Humes and other races are very anime. Tarutaru and Mithra especially, and alot of Emotes mimic that.
