There are real depressed people, for them, it's hard to admit they're depressed and when they do it's a great thing and they can get help.
These people referred as "emo" are the ones doing it purely for attention, they are (in 99% of cases) NOT depressed, therefore your comments about it being the first step to recovery are entirely moot. The first step to recovery for this group is a slap in the face, and to be told to cheer the hell up.
