I think villain black mages are among the best, namely Kuja. His Ultima spell is the best Ultima ever.
I like Golbaz myself, but if it has to be someone you get a chance to play as, definetly Rydia, favorite spell being Stop. I use it against almost everything, makes things so much easier.
My favourite one is the one from IIIj and my favourite spell is X-Zone from VI (but only when its mixed with vanish)

As for my favorite... The Emperor, StarfallXVI If that doesnt count, Blackmage from I, and Flare.
Lulu and Blizzaga. but, i don't like to freeze...
I enjoy having Guy of FF2 as a black mage, who pwnzes it up with aspil. Unless that's white magic. It's hard to tell in that game.
