Squall of course, whenever there was a SeeD mission everyone always looked up at Squall, Squall was the gardens leader and everyone there looked up to him to.

Clearly Cecil. How many people have the strength and skill to be a Dark Knight and a Pally...in the same game. Squall and Cloud were too busy being emo to wield that kind of power.

I would argue that FFVI doesn't even have a main character, much less a male lead. However, my vote went to Locke, with Tidus in a close second.

He was so. The plotline of FFVII TOTALLY revolved around him. The other characters were mere accessories to the story, which has been stated by Square was simply a vehicle to show just how amazing he is.

Cloud is the best, he was my first pixel crush, he was mysterious, and a good leader in my eyes. (even had TWO chicks after him, beat that)

Cecil was the best lead male. He went against Baron, his own hometown to stand up for what's right. He also helped change a lot of people. (He taught Edward courage, he taught Edge teamwork, he taught Yang trust, he taught Rydia forgiveness, he taught Golbez mercy)
