your thoughts on the new sponsered link system for EoFF?

When I first saw it, I thought there was something wrong with someones sig code that had screwed the adds up, how wrong I was.

EDIT: Bad thing.

If Cid becomes a millionaire I don't have a problem with it. :spin:

I think it's really annoying. I didn't mind at all the ads on the top of the page. But between posts? Are we going to get email spammed ads next?

I sorta see where boss is coming from with these new ads.

Unless people start accidentally clicking on unexpected links, I'm not sure how this will increase revenue. It's made me less prepared to click on them due to being so intrusive.

Do these things get EoFF money every time we click them? If so, I'm willing to click a few everyday.

In TekkenZaibatsu, there's a member called AdBot that "posts" ads every now and again in every post. I've gotton used to that so this isn't much of a transition.

Yes.

I think a "hey, reminder: clicking the ads gives EoFF money, so please look at them!" announcement every 6 months or so would do more towards getting people to click ads than plastering them all over between posts.

I read every announcement and you damn well know I do. Just maybe not in the first ten minutes. :p

At the top of the page, they were easily ignorable. If you aren't clicking now, you weren't gonna click when they were at the top either.

By the way, google prohibits me from reminding you to "help out the site" by clicking ads, so I wouldn't make such an announcemnt.

Seriously, I don't think it's that bad. But maybe I'm wrong. The bad news (for you guys) is that it seems more effective.

And you really thought removing Feedback would be the end of it all? How very naïve. :laugh:

I didn't put any input into the Feedback forum and its current state (which is certainly not to say that I disagree with what has happened). I, solely, made this decision with the ads without consulting the staff.

In other words, the isolation of the feedback forum and the placement of these ads is unrelated.
