Everything was good, not great as everyone said so. The only thing that really shone out was the music, friggin awesome.
I say you beat CT, its still a good game. After this, you can play CC which IMO, is alot better.

I found Chrono Trigger to be really neat because of the fact you could go forward and backward into time. How cool is that?

Huge mistake, as I now have the engineering knowledge to fix it, but no reason to. However, I digress.
I picked up CT for the PS1 after I fixed my PS2, and play through it all the time on an emulator. I can get 100% completion in about 20 hours now without New Game+. New Game+, however, is fun for having an "ongoing" game, which can continue even after beating the final boss. However, again I digress~
Chrono Cross to me was lackluster, because I was expecting something to live up to the Chrono Trigger name. I was extremely disappointed upon playing it, to find that it did not tie in with the Chrono Trigger storyline at all, and I ended up not continuing at some point. I think I was still on the first disc.
I later found out that the storylines do, in fact, tie in...but in a way more like FF4/FF9. Actually playing through it is still on my to-do list.
I guess my advice to you is just to keep playing. Try to push what the hype planted in your mind, back out of your mind. The most boring part of the game, to me, is circa 12000BC. It just seems repetitive right there. However, before and after own. Maybe you'll get some enjoyment out of the storyline.
I like trigger because of the battle system and everything in it is the best, oh and the side qeusts are hard but very cool if you do them, I got my characters really high and they know every tech and magic ( I still have a snes and that game here),but yet the boss is hard but I played through the whole story(no shortcuts through the bosses thing at the end)

I've yet to finish either game, but I do believe that CT is a lot of fun. But for me, that's really all it is. There are no subtleties or complexities that you'll find in CC, which is just as much fun. I think the large cast of characters in CC is interesting, because to me, it lends the idea of the broadness. Like, in every RPG ever you are saving the world with a ragtag group of 6-10 people. In CC, you're doing it with something like 44, all from different backgrounds, with different stakes. I prefer CC to CT, but I think they're both great games.
I couldn't stand Cross, and I really liked Trigger. For awhile it held position as my favourite RPG, but that was swiped away by my second play of FFIV.
I replayed Trigger and it sort of lacked an epic feel the second time through, as do alot of RPGs I play a second time...
Keep playing it! you'll fall in love with it!:)
The dude to whom you're speaking was banned quite a while ago. I'm pretty sure we can let it go.
