Pretty much any MMORPG ever.
Chrono Trigger. Its hard to find people that actually criticize the game
Halo 1/2
FF8 - Honestly, there were 6 characters, lame villian, poor weapon system, too much reliance on GFs and a stupid storyline. (theyre all in the same orphanage? oh Pl.ea.se)
Gta isnt overated at all.
Grand Theft Auto
Final Fantasy
Halo
Tekken
Soul Calibur
Zelda: Ocerena of Time
Gta isnt overated at all.
That's denial if I ever seen it.
I never said Halo was better than Half Life 2, but I didnt get what everyone else got from Half Life 2, the first game was brilliant, but the second was only decent, no where near on-par with the original.
And Halo is a good series, Ive only played the first, and I enjoyed it alot. I havent played the second though....
Halo, and maybe just a dash of GTA. Add some FFXI, and you've got a pretty overrated cake.
FFVII. It's a good game, but not worthy of all the praise that has been heaped upon it over the years. Since it was the first RPG to really hit it big in the West, a lot of people have an emotional attachment to the game, and are willing to overlook its faults. Were it released today, few would hail it as the greatest game ever, or even the greatest Final Fantasy title.
Ahh, I understand now. Its not as good as the first Halo in my opinion. Still worth a play though. Its cool that you can play as the Covernant, but they get really anoying after a while.
Also to add to the list.
Diablo 1
Baldurs gate.
(Yea sure there both great games, but better than Neverwinter Nights...? That is what many people have said to me. Ha, yea, whatever.)
Rainbow Six 3
TimeSplitters 2.
(Better than Half Life and Gunman Chronicles put together one person said to me. Naaah. But then again, thats my opinion.)
Half-life 1 (2 was awesome, although still beset my major shortcomings. 1 was... what the hell is the fuss about?)
Zelda games (Especially OoT)
Final Fantasy IX. It's pretty great. It's not nearly as good as IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, X, X-2, or XI. Certainly not good enough to be a Final Fantasy game.
I don't think Halo is overrated, for two reasons. First, it's not a big, clever insight to say it's repetitive. All videogames are repetitive, and FPS games can be especially so. Second, whilst lacking any specific innovation, Halo is so widely beloved because it is, quite honestly, the best example of the genre in existence. Halo 2 slightly less so - mainly because it was clearly released a month or two before it should have been - but the original was mindblowing, and it was the example of why the next-gen was worth looking into.
Oh, and given how many people are deriding it, can you really say it's overrated? I've never seen as many people criticise a single game as people do with Halo.
Possibly true, but that argument is flawed. You can't reasonably compare games released when computing power, maturity in the industry and its experiences/innovations/etc, social trends, and a myriad of other things, are all so different to each other. It was precisely because FFVII was something new and amazing to us that it was so lauded in the West and remains to this day one of the most important cRPGs (And possibly even games in general) ever made. It was a game which truly wanted to be an artistic example, rather than something just to have fun with (And I would contend it resolutely succeeded), and whilst this had occurred before in other games it was something special for us. So yes, there is the nostalgic/emotional element, but you also have to look at the context the game was released in.Quote:

Final Fantasy VII, definitely.
Halo get's way too much love.
I'd say Resident Evil 4, but I haven't played it enough to really decide for sure.
I like Final Fantasy IX, really. It was better than a lot of Final Fantasy games.
Chrono Trigger hasn't aged well at all.
Kingdom Hearts. The camera made me hate the game. I just can't forgive it.
