Squall would win, because of the power of the Junctioning system. Tidus may be able to reach 99999 damage with his Caladbolg, but that would be his undoing, because having that much damage doesn't matter. Speed is always the most important attribute in a battle between FF characters. The Caladbolg doesn't have Initiative. Squall can Junction Initiative. Squall strikes first, and his 9999 damage may not be as impressive as Tidus' 99999, but it will be enough to kill Tidus anyway. Then too, Squall can junction 100 Deaths or Pains to his Status Attack, and Tidus will fall that way.

as for your reasons why you think squall would win. it depends on what point of the game or whatever they meet. plus, i'm not to sure if this is 100% positive...but somewhere in ff10, i swear you could use one of those ability spheres to attack first also...same thing as an inititive.
