Songs that deserve more recognization

Just a thought, Have you ever listened to them? I really wouldn't classify them as emo. If you actually listen to the lyrics of their songs the dont sing "omg, cut my wrists, bleed bleed, die die." Every one of their songs has a real life meaning behind it. And thier songs have a lighter, happier tone. And also hate to break it to you but plenty of people still listen to the emo genre.

No no no. That's not what Im saying. Im saying people will clasify them as it without knowing. So one person says it, another believes and tells and it keeps on going. So people won't want to listen to it.

She does NOT have a 4 octave range, because Daniel Gildenlow (Pain of Salvation) has a 3.5 range and she can't hit half the notes he can.

She did a good job singing when she was touring with Therion too.

i dont think music that didnt take any kinda work or skill deserves recognition.....

i can think of lots of things...but i spose the least mainstream would be virtuoso guitar...and most of the people taht talk about this dont know what theyre talkin bout......so...becker need s more recognition....so does...ron thal.....

That would be why I said "Apparently" ;) It was something I read on a few pages about her. I've only heard two types, a very, very low tone and the one she uses for Angtoria.

I'm not sure how much airplay or recognition a lot of stuff gets, really. I think The Wallflowers deserve wider recognition. And Of Montreal, as well. I hope they come back home to Athens sometime so I can see them live. :3

Speaking of talented musicians, I just have to mention Dan Swanö, member of Another Life, Bloodbath, Brejn Dedd, Dan Swanö, Diabolical Masquerade, Edge of Sanity, Godsend, Incision, Infestdead, Karaboudjan, Katatonia, Maceration, Masticate, Nightingale, Odyssey, Overflash, Pan.Thy.Monium, Ribspreader, Route Nine, Star One, Steel, Sörskogen, Total Terror and Unicorn, who's a great drummer, bassist, guitarist, keyboard player and a singer with a very wide vocal range and is a very good and active producer aswell.

Yeah, Fade to black is like one of the most known metallica songs. Well atleast most fans know it.

Anything and everything that falls under the progressive rock genre, (i.e. Emerson Lake and Palmer, Yes, Frank Zappa, King Crimson). I think if more young people listened to this music, like me, they might really catch onto it, if introduced to it slowly. The more expiremental it is, the easier it might scare someone off.

If you're interested, I suggest you start with Pink Floyd (which is considerably more mainstream), if you haven't already. Or you could try Supertramp first.

From there try out Yes, King Crimson, or Emerson, Lake and Palmer (perhaps early Genesis as well, ignoring anything past "Wind and Wuthering").

And, if you really want to try out incredibly expirmental material, there is no one better than the legendary Frank Zappa.

Outside of the progressive genre, I like Dexys Midnight Runners, which are sadly only remembered as writing "Come on Eileen." Some even call them one hit wonders, which is truly a despicable label. Anything from their first two albums is excellent.

Another all too readily labeled "one hit wonder band" is Men at Work, which also have tons of good material other than the big singles like "Down Under" that they are mostly remebered for.
