My thumbs are elevated about half an inch over the keyboard at all times during typing. My right thumb hits the space bar more often than my left thumb does, but if Mr. Right Thumb is otherwise engaged, Mr. Left Thumb picks it up and runs with it.
It is a cooperative effort between both of my thumbs. I am glad they get along so well.
Although sometimes I use my face.

I think it really depends on what I'm typing... I tend to type correctly with my left hand, and my right hand only uses one finger... probably because the more commonly used letters are situated under the left hand, it learned to type correctly naturally...

I use my wrist. Since I don't use the regular hand placement. I micro with one hand.

Middle=E
Ring=R/T
Pinkie=Y
That way, it's convienient when I'm doing something else. I'm always angled to a TV to my left. So...

It appear I use my left thumb, for very much the same reason that Yams also does.
