Official Lost Season 4 Thread

Jin isn't necessarily dead, though. For all we know he could still be on the island. Really, I hope this is the case, but I could see it not being true (remember, Hurley around the graves: "we made a horrible mistake"). I have a feeling they're going to leave this plot point open ended for awhile, I doubt Jin is dying in the episode this week.

My real concern is who the Oceanic 6 are. I mean, the CTV previews said that the "last of the six" were revealed in Ji Yeon, but by my count there have only been five. Sun, Sayid, Jack, Kate, and Hurley. Does Aaron count as one of the Six? This doesn't make much sense to me, though, because he wasn't really 'on' the plane - would they give such a small child a monetary settlement for the disaster? I don't know. What are your opinions on Aaron and the Oceanic Six?

It's so confusing, but then...this is Lost. xD I'm more concerned about the people left behind on the island. Does this mean the Oceanic 6 end up trying to get back to their normal lives, and don't do anything to help rescue the others? >_>

Plus, they're acting weird - Jack turned to alcohol, and went psychotic. Kate stayed the same, I guess; except the mystery of Aaron. Hurley went a little insane, and Sun seems to be fine, except that Jin is presumably dead.

So, I'm assuming the horrible mistake, results in the deaths of a few survivors. Assuming Jin is dead, he may be one of the victims...and possibly Claire, since Kate has Aaron. Just a theory.

Wow, they answered like more than zero questions in one episode, so that was pretty crazy! That was a pretty intense epsiode.

(SPOILER)Guess we won't be getting that Danielle flashback.

I can't wait to watch the next episode on Sunday. According to rumours I've heard, Libby is going to be in the next episode! I loved her character.

I really liked this Michael episode. Normally they meander forever about nothing, but I felt like this one had some real focus going on.

Very good episode, the best Michael episode imo. I thought it funny when he tried to set off the bomb and a little flag with a message popped up.

But now we gotta wait a month before new episodes? That sucks.

I thought this episode did the 'dragged-out creepy music because something's gonna happen!' part too much, but it was nice that it revealed stuff.

(SPOILER)My guess is that it was the Others. They had their orders from Ben. Ben wanted Alex to go with Rousseau and Karl specifically so they would be killed. That seems to make sense, at least.

I'm still getting caught up on the episodes, but I just wanted to comment on the Sun+Jin episode.

I'm kinda annoyed that Jin is dead. The Jin + Sun episodes are without a doubt, some of the best that Lost has to offer. I know a lot of people can't appreciate it, but the Korean dialogue is really well written. Better than some Korean dramas I've seen. The interaction between the two characters has always been great, and they've both had good solid character developments. I feel like at this point, they're just killing people off for the sake of killing them off. Like if you really think about the character and where he started and where he should end up, is being dead and leaving behind a wife and child really what his character's arc demanded? I say no, absolutely not.

Whatever though, I assume we're gonna seen a ton more people die before this is all over.

And for the ending what if after Sayid heard Michaels story he saw Michael was incapable of doing that job so by turning him in and gaining the cap'n's trust HE will finish Michaels job because he can. :)

Also yeah, (SPOILER)sucks that Rousseau is dead. Really wanted to know what the deal with her expedition team thing was.

There's always a chance that the island may "help" Rousseau like how it was preventing Michael from killing himself.

I haven't seen the episode yet, but like someone else said earlier; it seems they are just killing off people for the sake of it now. I wouldn't mind, but they could at least explain things before doing it!

I'm suprised they didn't decide to do what the fans wanted and start explaining more stuff. I read in an interview they were going to start doing that this season...

... Did you actually see the last episode? It explained a ton of stuff.

When Kate, Jack and Sawyer first were captured by the others Tom took Kate to the shower hall so she could shower and put on that sun dress. When Kate asked if he was going to stay and watch her shower he said something that amounted to "I'm not into the ladies, I'm into the dudes."

He said "You're not my type" or something. That's not quite so explicit. xD

Actually, Moon Rabbits, I actually think it IS Farady. Just a gut.

Poor episode was poor. I feel absolutely no emotional concern for Michael, and frankly, I was disappointed that the gun jammed. So a Michael episode wasn't great, doubly so because they broke from the normal still-kinda-cool flashback formula (Which they twisted so brilliantly in Ji Yeon) to just give us an episode about a character I frankly don't give a crap about.

I also disliked the episode's failure to show anything at all about Michael and Walt actually getting off the island. I mean come on, did they just boat across the Pacific for six weeks until they pulled none the worse for wear in San Diego? Did the Others get them most of the way after all? If someone else rescued them, what was their story? I can understand Michael might want to keep the island quiet because if people go the world could find out about his murders, but even so... too big a gap.

The only real point of interest is that the island won't let people die unless it wants to. Problem is that this is so utterly ridiculous that it strains my imagination far more than anything else the show has thrown at me, and I'm pretty much already far beyond suspending disbelief, but this was just... ugh.

And the final nail in the coffin, Rousseau's apparent death. Karl I didn't care much about, he was always a bit player. Rousseau was another matter. I was always under the impression that we might see, you know, some development there, but they just upped and killed her :monster:

They said after the break we find out HOW they got off the island.

I just watched the episode. I also felt no concern for Micheal - I mean, come on...just kill him off already! It did explain a few things though. Still, I really hope Rousseau isn't dead. We haven't seen her side of how she got onto the island through flashbacks.

I wonder who attacked her, anyway? For some reason, my instinct tells me it is the Others who left Ben to go to this 'safe place' he sent them to. Ugh. I dunno. >_>

I really hope they don't actually kill her. I mean, Karl could be the one who died that episode for all we know, and Rousseau might still survive. But I don't know, she got shot right in the chest. What is keeping me hoping is the fact that the producers said she would get a flashback episode.

Yeah, I heard about that too. On one hand, I think she might survive because of the islands power to prevent death in some cases. (Example: When Locke got shot by Ben at close range and survived.)

On the Other (xD) hand though, Lost has a habit of making characters have sudden, shock deaths. Even if she does die, I'm certain she'll still have a flashback episode - maybe just shown through another characters eyes. Possibly Bens, or Alex's flashbacks?

I feel sorry for Alex at the moment! I'm hoping this is the turning point of her character becoming a major character.

Locke survived because Ben shot him where his kidney used to be. The island didn't (directly) help him survive.

Alex seemed a bit cowardly shouting "i'm bens daughter", not tht i blame her but still

Yeah, she was desperate though - her boyfriend and mother had been shot dead right in front of her, so she assumed she would be next unless she said something; anything to get the attention of whoever it is that is attacking her.

But...who could it be?! The ones after Ben are on the boat, stranded. Charlotte and Daniel aren't much of a threat - and they're with Jack's gang. >_<

Not necessarily. While this seems the most logical, Lost is never really logical. It could be the those on the freighter, for all we know they've managed to get on the island. Weren't they talking about going ashore? I mean, Keamy, Frank and Omar were given some errand to run, weren't they? Maybe this is it.

I don't think it was the Others who shot them. Remember we saw those military guys on the boat? Well where are they now? Probably scouting the island or something and just happened to see those 3 and kill 2...

I'm not sure it is those military guys who were clay pigeon shooting on the ship. As someone I spoke to pointed out, they hardly seem the quiet, stealthy types. I'm still more inclined to think that Ben is behind this, not least because it rids him of his daughter's boyfriend (whom he obviously despises) and a mad woman who generally does little but hit him.

Possibly, but Ben stated to Micheal that 'he doesn't kill innocent people'. I don't know how innocent Danielle and Karl are, but it doesn't make much sense for Ben to be killing off his own people when he's in danger of being caught.

I could see Ben telling himself that others killed Karl and Danielle, not himself, so he's clean. He has a very different take on morals and what is right and wrong.

If anyone played the Lost Experience, I've got theories! Or more like one sort of theory. The Valenzetti Equation is supposed to predict the end of humanity, right? And they tried and tried and couldn't get it to produce a different answer, right? You know, the numbers and stuff. Well, I'm assuming this is because of time/the planet's "course correction", meaning there is no way to change the end of time.

Except on the island! That's why it's so special (among several other reasons), I'm assuming. Perhaps it's saved from the end of the world (which is why Widmore wants it?), or maybe the end of humanity CAN be changed, but only with the help of the properties on the island. Perhaps this is "the work [Jack has] to do", along with the others on Jacob's list (see the last Mobisode!), saving the world and time and all that junk. OR maybe Ben's trying to keep the world on the right course and is trying to bring about the end of humanity himself, and the "good" people on Jacob's list are exempt?

I don't know, I was just thinking about this today. I'm pretty damned sure that the Valenzetti Equation and "course correcting" have a large connection to eachother.

Not really. It's only going to be thirteen episodes as opposed to the 16 it was supposed to be. But I'm pretty sure the overflow is just being put in season 5.

On top of that, Lost seasons used to average at least 20 eps.

I think Ben is my new favorite character in Lost. Every scene he is in I am glued to the set to see what happens. Second favorite would probably be smoke monster.

I'm still recovering from this episode. I don't think this show has ever had such an eventful hour.

I found this to be the best episode yet. Looks like Ben knew about the Smoke Monster all along, and looks like he has the ability to call it from whatever room he went into in his house..

Hopefully next week, or the week after we'll get some questions about who Jacob really is.

Got to love the random redshirt deaths too. I'm glad they brought smoke monster back. His agent was saying he didn't want to do television anymore, and wouldn't sign on for another season. Plus there was the DUI from last year.

I could not help but cry. Sad piano music gets me every time.

Great episode. It went by really fast, but it still felt like a lot happened. I hope they keep up the pace.

I was just reading an interview with one of the writers and they said that (SPOILER)Jack's actually preggers and it's another mystery of the island to be solved.

That episode was pretty amazing. Seriously worth the wait amazing. In every way.

I loved when Bernard was all badassed and just showed Daniel what for.

As for Claire - I think she was out back hanging up her laundry when the house was hit.

I thought this was more or less a filler episode and not very interesting. The best parts was when Jack was with Hurley. The people on the beach aren't as interesting as the Locke/Ben/Hurley group or the Desmond/Sayid/Michael group, and next episode appears to focus on them so it should be good.

I gotta say Lost knows their fanbase :D Funny how people refuse to believe a death to really be a death until they're rotting bodies are shown on screen.

I don't like Hurley. why did he have to survive? his story keeps stinking up the rest of the story.

Sawyer has always had a bit of heroism and decency to him but nowhere near the level of protectiveness he's been showing the last few episodes. Definitely a bit out of character, but I'm loving it. It's so freakin' endearing.

I thought it was a decent episode, except when that annoying red haired lady was attempting to speak in Korean. It was SO bad. So atrociously bad, that even if I were offered a million dollars, I wouldn't have been capable of understanding what she said if it weren't for the captioning. It made me want to barf it was so bad. Ugh.

Especially considering that she was doing the scene with a Korean actor, you would think she would have done a better job.

I don't think that Sawyer is necessarily acting out of character. His character has been changing pretty drastically over the course of the show. He had a huge regression after he killed Cooper, but he's starting to continue on that path he was on to becoming something other than just a Confidence Man.

Not exactly. DDK was born in Korea, so even though he moved to the US at a young age, he still retained that knowledge of the language.

DDK's Korean was atrocious in the beginning too but he's gotten loads better. I bet his parents are happy about that. But no joke you guys, I've never in my life heard Korean butchered in the way that this lady butchered it in the last episode. Kudos to DDK for keeping a straight face while doing that scene. If I were in his position, I'd have this big ol' "WTF are you saying?" expression plastered on my face. But then again, I suck at acting so there you go.

This talk of Korean in Lost reminds me of Hiro's Japanese in Heroes. Quite often, when he speaks, he says something with much more emotion than what they print on the screen, whether it be excitement or foreboding. I guess they figure the American audience can't handle all of the extra emotion, since Hiro never gets emotional during the show. It's always interesting to see how they translate it.

How good is the translation in Lost?

Yeah, I'd noticed that actually. It's something like "Jinsushei", isn't it? And 'cause it has Jin at the front, I just assumed it was some fancy Korean version of his name.

Yeah, it's just a fancied up way of saying his name. The word I was thinking about is pronounced Yoh-bo and it means like "husband" but they just translate it to Jin.

Anyway, I just remembered something Hurley said about Australia being the key to winning Risk in the last episode and he's so right! You can never give up Australia!

I was thinking of this post when watching last night's episode and I also believe they showed the Carl and Rousseau's bodies so that we can see that the voices everyone hears are ghosts of the dead which is why Miles knew where the bodies were and who they were.

I'm sure it will. After that scene my wife commented on how nothing is said at random in this show; everything has a purpose. I have know clue how it will play into the story, but it will.

I also liked how pretty boy was talking to young Locke about backgammon, similar to how Locke was asking Walt about backgammon in the pilot episode right after the crash.

Oh that crazy Christian Shepherd, what will he do next!

EDIT: I think Lost should've been called The Astounding Misadventures of Dr. Christian Shepherd.

I bet if I was alive in the 50s-60s, I would have died of laughter during those past scenes.

I like mystery, I just find it much more satisfying when the explanation isn't impossible, scientifically. Robinson Crusoe is just boring surviving on island stuff.

Maybe I'll write a letter and have them replace that old hag in Murder She Wrote with Evangeline Lilly.

The end of the first part of the season finale made me very excited for next week. The little music montage was awesome. What I don't understand is how Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sun, and Sayid are all going to meet up to get off the island . . . I mean, they're all over the place.

Also, Sun's little interaction with her father was so totally awesome and made me remember why I love her character so much.

Well, everyone but Sun and Aaron are heading for the Orchid. Hurley is already there (along with Locke and Ben), Sawyer and Jack are flying the coppie there with Bearchest, and Sayid and Kate are going there with Richie. My guess is that the O4 (minus Sun and Aaron) get in the copter and fly to the freighter, but the freighter's been exploded, but Sun (on Jin's advice right before she went back up) has already gotten off the boat. The copter runs out of fuel, but the O6 get into the little boat and float away to wherever.

All of the Lost season finales have been good, and the build up to them all has been great, but this is shaping up to be something absolutely insane. Desmond, Jin, Michael, Sawyer, Locke, Claire, Juliet, Rose and Bernard all stand to die. I definitely don't think that all of them will die, but the fact that they're all vulnerable is kind of exciting.

Sawyer chose to stay, so he won't die. Jin and Claire probably will though, since it's unlikely they'd voluntarily separate from Sun and Aaron.

I've heard this ballied-about quite a bit, but I just don't buy it. I think she's just out of the loop quite a bit.

I also think Rose and Bernard are safe. I think the only ones to die will probably be the ones on the freighter. The rest of the folks will just "move" with the island, whatever that means.

Kate wasn't necessarily talking with Sawyer on the phone - she never said she was. She said she was taking care of something for him. She could have been talking to Cassidy (?) or Clementine (his kid).

I think by that they mean, by three hours, that the finale has three parts. We saw the first one this week. The latter two will be on in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, I never got the impression that was Sawyer she was talking to. Also, I think Ronard might survive and choose to voluntarilly stay on the island because of Rose's cancer. I vaguely remember them agreeing to do as much in a previous season.

Sawyer isn't going to die, at least not in this episode. It would be foolish to not have such a watchable and prominent character in the final season.

Claire and Aaron are already separated, so nothing more needs to be done about that. I just think the writers have a hard time writing for Claire and so she doesn't get much air time. She still has a role to play. Maybe that roll will come out in the finale and she will be killed, I don't really know.

I don't buy Jin dying. It's too sad. I do think the freighter will explode and those three guys will be presumed dead but they will survive somehow, or Michael will sacrifice himself for the other two. Desmond most certainly will survive, his story is far from over. Fool went back in time, man, they got to explain that!

As long as the finale has plenty of Benjamin Linus I will be happy.

I don't want to have to wait a whole week and a half for it. D:

I've believed that Jin survives and is still on the island ever since they showed his funeral. It seems too obvious for the show to state that Jin is dead and now they leave us with him with C4 on the freighter. They like their twists too much to make it this predictable.

If Jin does die, it will be something random like he'll get shot in the back as they fly away on the chopper and they are forced to dump the body out of the chopper(and a body/person was shown falling out of a chopper into the ocean in the season preview montage) and that's why Sun's distraught.

I really hate the mentality that certain shows have that just cause a show is ending, that they can do whatever the hell they like.

Battlestar Galactica is doing this too. Just killing people off left and right.

If Jin or Sawyer end up dead by the end of this show I will be SO pissed off. Even Claire. God damn, they can't just kill people off willy nilly like that.

I don't care about Claire anymore. After the secrets behind her abduction were revealed Charlie was the only thing that made her interesting and she's lost that now as well.

(SPOILER)I was soooooo relieved that Desmond did not bite the dust. I hope his character isn't through, though. I suppose it can't be, as he has to go back, right, along with Kenny Rogers (best name ever)? Also, we now know that Oceanic did not know that the Losties were lying. This is going to be a torturous eight months.

All in all I thought it was an enjoyable finale. I do like the fact that they tied up several lose ends and only left a couple of big ones open. (SPOILER)The fight scene between Sayid and the lead mercenary guy was surprisingly well choreographed. It's too bad Sayid didn't get another chance to flex his thighs of awesomeness, though.

I saw it coming since the season 3 finale myself. In fact, after watching that finale I turned to my fiance and called it. I will admit that up until (SPOILER)Ben showed up the finale made me doubt myself and had me thinking it might possibly be him, but as soon as I saw him there was no doubt in my mind anymore.

And now we basically know the plot for the next season. (SPOILER)Ben (seeing as he can't return to the island now) will attempt to get the Oceanic Six, Locke, and perhaps Walt, "Kenny Rogers", and Desmond back to the island. We should all be pretty sure that Michael is dead for good this time, but I'm not too sure about Jin.

Overall, a good second half of the 4th Season, although the writers strike made the season 16 episodes instead of the regular 24. The 5th one should be a lot better.

Ah, so that scene with Ben in the desert earlier (SPOILER)takes place directly after he moved the island. I thought he'd parachuted there or something.

I guess we always knew (SPOILER)Locke would die at some point, but eh, it lost some of its impact by revealing it like that.

It'll be interesting to see (SPOILER)what happened to the people on the Zodiac or whatever it was called - Farraday and co. Did they move with the island or not? Time will tell.

Also, I think that (SPOILER)the island moved in time like the rabbit did.

Ditto second half was awesome but 14 Hours/episodes was made for this season...and it was decided that there was going to be 16 episodes before the strike had started...Theres now going to be 17 episodes of season 5 and 6 and thats it for Lost!

Awesome stuff....now for the long wait!

I felt it was really predictable, but it still didn't make for a bad finale. I thought the "big reveal" of Locke was a bit of a weak note to end the season on. I saw that coming a mile away. I was really hoping for a craaaaazay revelation or giant question to be posed.

Also, Jin's death was HEARTBREAKING. :( Desmond and Penny's reunion was cute. I'm excited for this Ben out to kill Penny thing.

What do you think Sun meant when she said that she and Widmore had similar interests? Finding the island (because maybe Jin is alive? :P) ? Finding / killing Ben (because he, really, was the cause of Jin's death) ? Whaaaaaaat?

I'm pretty sure Faraday and the boat of randoms is smurfed. The boat blew up and the island disappeared. Sucks, cuz Faraday was hot in his own crazy way.

Best season ever. Even better than Season 1. Locking in the end for this series really allowed the writers to make for some great storytelling.

Jin isn't dead, having him end up alive for some tearful reunion makes so much more sense than him ending up dying. I'm pretty sure Michael is dead though. Lost doesn't just kill main characters randomly. They get their 'final moment' first. Jin never got one.

It will be interesting to see what direction the series takes in its final season.

The course Lost is taking is so much like Alias. Start off with a CIA agent fightin' crime, to having everlasting life potions and zombies running around in Russia. Lost started off with a bit of mystery and lurking monsters and evolved into dead people appearing on a regular basis and islands disappearing into thin air. I liked it better when both shows stuck to realistic premises with touches of the supernatural. Rather than whacking you over the head with it.

And in both shows, no one is ever really dead.

No body, no death. So I believe Jin is out and about somewhere, waiting for Sun.

Finale was good. Not as good as last season's finale. There was a lot of buildup and the reveals didn't pay off as much as they should. And with Lost, there are so many different stories and subplots and mysteries, that I'm not even sure what's what anymore.

I like Frank a lot. He's a good character. And we need more of Jin/Sun and Sawyer and less of sniveling Jack.

Alias never really recovered after season 2 though...they only started getting better when they were told that season 5 was the last...but it was too little too late...Atleast with Lost there is some forward movement with the plot

Definately Agreed about the supernatural stuff though...i was over that aspect of the show post season 2 (but i guess im a little intrigued by it)

Chin up people we all know Lost is ending in 2 seasons so might as well enjoy the ride...if the last season sucks then we can get our pitchforks and rally!!!!:D

(SPOILER)Though I felt sorry for his character's fate (I was hoping he'd end up happy and back with Walt) Michael's last words were priceless: "Who the hell are you?" BOOM.

Danielle and I played "catch up with the last five episodes of Lost" last night and it was awesome.

I'm digging the polar bear theory, but I don't see so much how that would keep Alpert young. I had my own idea on how all of that worked after the last Locke episode...

Excellent season. The finale didn't hit me as hard as the third's, but as Roto said, it's hard to be shocking when the whole season's been plotting what happens directly afterward. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they handle the next season with the cast split in two.

That finale was mostly awesome. However, (SPOILER)Bentham had to be either Locke or Linus, really - Sawyer at the very outside, but unlikely. So once Ben showed up, I was pretty certain it was Locke, and it wasn't a big reveal.

Very unsatisfied with what they did with Jin, though I wasn't sure he was really dead even before reading the spoiler Miriel posted on it.

I totally did not see the ending bit with Penny's boat, so props on that, because I was very confused about how they were going to deal with Desmond and Frank on the raft. That was well done and I felt a lot of tension for both characters there - two of my faves.

Also, was Keamy a total hardcore badass or what?

I had the weirdest dream and me and kate were driving a car around the island except it was in spain and we picked up desmond and drove around like in that aerosmith video for crazy, then we went to tell Rose and Sawyer how hot Desmond was like a couple of mental fangirls, and saywer started crying so we cooked him a nice dinner with some cherry bakewells for desert, but we had a mixer and everything, and for some reason Jack was feeding some ducks in a waterproof outfit.

Yeah, I realized this might be a problem after Claire went off and disappeared. Perhaps Desmond did lie to Charlie - that would certainly add a rather dark element to his character, but how would that ever be revealed? He and Charlie were the only ones who knew.
