I am thoroughly surprised by the lack of events happening in NYC in october.
Screw what I just said about 18-19. 25-26 right now is the weekend for me that's least likely to have a conflict with anything else. MY REASONS:
I just received an email about 4-5 and 18-19 being potential dates for my fraternity's chapter's kickball tournament (lolz it's coed honors frat guize) and I'd kill myself if I missed that.
And 11-12 I'm going to be at home and not in or near NYC.

Hotels in NYC are quite expensive. Huxley and I are staying in the Chelsea Star in September. It's pretty cheap, but it's a very nice hotel, from what I've heard (Huxley's mom and stepfather's friends recommended it to us!) and it has a great location - it's right near Penn Station, for those who are taking the train in, and you can get to places like Central Park and Time Square so easily!
So maybe you'd want to consider that one?
Too bad I'm back in the netherlands, but there is a good chance I'm back in NY in a year and a half, so on time for the next meetup. : D
Will we all be in one hotel or separate?
Is anyone else a proponent of going from Friday evening-Sunday (24th-26th)? That's what I'd rather do, personally. Basically it gives us more time on Saturday to do stuff. (Plus I don't want to wake up early Saturday to get to NYC)

Well, maybe we can plan for you to get there firstish? My getting there is reliant on the bus schedule, and my last class on Friday ends at 4 grumble grumble.
Actually, I'm checking the bus schedule right now and the earliest bus I can catch is at 5:35. That gets to the Port Authority Bus Terminal at 8:00 apparently. Then I could catch an underground train to wherever I'll need to go.
I cannot arrive on Friday at all because I have work. If you (Denmark) can float a hotel room (if we go hotel), then sure. If we don't go Hotel and find free accommodations my babbling post here is pointless.

i haven't read the first 16 pages of this thread but i could go if its in nyc i mean i was just there today and im going to go to college there soon so going to nyc is a common thing for me now.
I have no clue what my classes are going to be like (still in Bermuda, don't leave for RI until next week and classes don't start until Oct 6) but I don't think it will be a problem for me to still come to this. Well, it's been kind of a technological nightmare getting here but I'm sortakinda settled in RI now and I have my class schedule. JKTrix is good to go for Oct 24-26... except not with the Aunt as anticipated. I'm gonna communicate with Ko Ko to see if she'll let me in there, otherwise I'll have to sign up for the hotel room.
As for the 'technological nightmare'... My computer died. I'm using my dad's computer right now but he heads back home in like 2 days, and it's a pain checking this site on my phone. Hopefully I can keep updated on this event through the contacts.
Also, I have a pretty nice camera, so I can be one person in charge of photos. I'll just have to link up with someone else's computer before we split up if my machine isn't fixed by then.

Also, Chelsea Star is a pretty cute hotel, though it'd be a lie to put it up to a Holiday Inn standard. If you guys don't mind a weird funky hotel for a night, then Chelsea Star is great. I am under the impression that we will be staying in Manhattan on Saturday, and Ko Ko is in Brooklyn, which is ~30 mins away (doesn't appear to involve freeways) by car. I have talked to my cell phone provider and they told me I just have to power cycle the phone when on USA property and it should work. Failing that, I suppose you will have to call the hotel (phone # above).

Yeah, I dunno where you guys are staying Friday, but I'm going to come on Saturday, because I don't like not knowing where I'm staying. I dunno when I'm coming on Saturday. I'd like to come once the check-in at the hotel is done, so that I can drop my bags off. The New Yorker is nice and close to Central Park, but also close to Penn Station, very good location. I'd like to meet everyone at Penn Station, since a lot of people may be coming out from there.

For what it's worth, I was gonna stay with Ko Ko the whole time, so 'minus one' person for whoever is going to be in the hotels.

Well it's not affordable for everybody. I know for a fact that a certain somebody who I'd like to meet would find the price tag of staying troublesome.
There's definitely going to be better options but I don't know if we'd like to settle. There's places I can get that are as low as 30$ a night, with availability. But do we really want to stay at a 2 star hotel? o_O
2 star hotel really probably won't be as bad as it sounds...maybe. Yes I can understand the price thing being a problem for others.

edit: Ultimately it's up to you guys what to do. We could delay the meetup (I won't be able to meet any that happens after Nov 21st) or you can tell me what you think. Ultimately I saw the 50$ a person for one night and freaked. However the other prices aren't that much better. There simply aren't any hotels in the 150-200 (20-25$ per person) range that I can find. The 24$ room just screams 'ew' to me, even if we're just going to sit there.
The hotels above works out to be around 30$ a person. The New Yorker is 20$ more than that. It's your call guys.
Judging from Denmark's reaction we have two people who are 'game for anything'. I'll be spending so much money driving to NYC that it doesn't matter where I stay (ie I can stay at the new yorker, as that is the most we're going to pay)
I don't mind where we stay at (soooo helpful, I know :p). I think it would be best to find a place that is affordable, decent and easy to get to. if we have to vote, I vote Pan American
Edit: I already bought my bus ticket for next weekend, so I'm kinda stuck coming.
Next weekend is the only weekend that's good for me until next year, so I'd like to keep it to then.
