I can imagine Cloud and Squall being the easier characters to play and Bartz being one of the more difficult.
So does this mean there's twenty story modes or just a hero mode and a villain mode? I'm confuzzled.

Well, if you've ever played Threads of Fate before, I'm guessing it'll be slightly like that only instead of two sides you have ten or twenty if it goes the same for the villains (it would be very interesting to see their side).
EDIT:
Also Tidus's sword looks pretty much like the Caladbolg only silver o.o
Each character will have his own storyline, but I have no idea how long each storyline will be. Actually, you could work it out....
Ok, I've actually been sad enough to do this. I copied and pasted the crisis core script into word and did 'word count'. Comes to just under 20,000 words. So from this we can say Dissidia has roughly 40,000 words.
40,000/20 = 2000. So for each character there'll probably be (very roughly) 2000 words.
Gosh, I'm sad. xD
That's not a lot >.>
I don't think they meant there will be literally twice as many words in Dissidia as in CC. >_>
Yeah...they did...Quote:

I feel like a fanboy... I yelled for joy upon seeing the FFV data install... : 3
Kefka's Ex-Mode is just ULTIMATE. And Esper Terra is really really hot. : D
Cloud's EX-Mode is him w/ Ultima Weapon.... *yawn* What exactly is Firions EX-Mode? I can't tell what it's supposed to be?
Final Aeon Jecht is pretty weird lookin' too...
Final Aeon Jecht looks like my Uncle Steve on steroids o_o
I just noticed that in the big picture of the villains (the last link) Jecht really looks like Tidus to me. His face I mean. Wonder if that was intentional, or if I'm just loony.
ExDeath's line in the newest trailer: "I will make you wander the dimensions!"
... makes me seriously think about that remark and about how "Bartz and ExDeath's story will differ greatly from all the rest."
Conspiracy theory time...
Cecil's weapon in this game appears to be a lance, even the DK version seems to be using what appears to be more of a lance than a sword. Both actually have swords equipped but neither form seems to use them. My theory is that the lance actually belongs to Kain. I think it would be a nice nod to one of the FF favorites and also cause it changes up the play styles more cause only Cecil and Zidane seem to be using weapons that are not swords. :rolleyes2
Actually, in the artwork for IV, DK Cecil had a spear and Paladin Cecil had a staff (Rosa). Dissidia models follow the Amano art exactly (cept Bartz)
Final Fantasy XI has been confirmed to have it's own representative!
A Tarutaru Black Mage named Shantoto! (I really don't know who she is)
http://i37.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:...ou:/2ip8ht.jpg
>>> What?.. FF11 too?
lol. If they want to go that far then they better put some Mystic Quest characters in the game too..
I wonder if this means XII might get a bit of representation?
Please god let that be true, that would be the sweet cherry on this already delicious sundae.
It is true, further evidence that she has been confirmed, a scan of her Ex-burst!
http://i34.:bou::bou::bou::bou::bou:...u:/286u9tt.jpg
>>> Yeah, thats really too bad..
The only thing I'm annoyed by, is that Kefka has pointed ears, and Terra does not.
But it's prolly my fault for always thinking Terra was more Human than Kefka.
>>> Yeah, a Benjamin appearance would be too shocking for all the ff fans out there (truly an unexpected revelation), so we know that wont happen. I doubt SE and the japanese ff players have any love for mystic quest anyway.
Wow:) Nice environment, I'm glad they're pulling the locations from the games. Interesting moves too - wall runs and wall jumps. Destructible terrain as well, which'll add to the strategy, or at least to the flashy.
It seems like the Alexander summon restored Cloud's HP during that fight, so I'm assuming summons will be more than just cheap damage factories in this game...
hmm, i'm still a bit iffy on the game play...i dunno, i hope i'm very wrong and the game is awesome, because it has so much potential
What makes me really happy about this video is that Cloud does not appear to be horribly broken (Sephiroth is another story...). I was worried he would be overpowered for the sake of the fans. Cloud seems like he's based more on the original game version than all the Compilation bull and that is something that makes me quite happy. Even Sephiroth is somewhat tame in comparison to other forms he's taken in the franchise.
Yeah, if you look carefully at the Squall/Ultemacia battle, their battleground is the Clock tower in her castle. The few cutscenes of Terra and Kefka show that they are battling in the Magitech Research facilities where the Espers are being drained of their powers.
If you watch the video on the main site, the summons affect the stats that allow characters to do specials and breaks. In fact, the Alexander summon allowed Cloud to basically kill Sephiroth in one blow since it added Sephiroth's special to Cloud's and allowed him to do a move that did 5000+ damage and basically let Cloud win at the last second. Its a unique system really...Quote:

Weirdly perhaps, I like how they actually tried to make each character look different. They all have different noses! From this, I think it's safe to say that the best looking FF heroes are Bartz, Tidus, and Firion.
Also, it seems a bit odd to me that the Onion Knight would have a deeper voice than Zidane. 0.o
>>> Is funny how they made Onion Knight shorter than Zidane, they created a super midget.
Now im beginning to wonder what other possible secret characters there could be, I actually wouldnt be surprised if Sora was a secret character, you know since KH was one of the first games to feature different FF characters in one story.
>>> I wish i had a way to get some of these things..
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y15.../potion_sp.jpg
Me too ;_;
I went to this concert at an anime convention once, and the vocalist was drinking a Crisis Core edition potion between songs :(
you know that you're the epitome of nerd when you crave the opportunity to walk down the street drinking a 'potion' with a game character on the side :rolleyes2
having said that, i WOULD like to try it :D but only whilst crouched in the darkest corner of my room with the blinds closed :shifty:
I wouldn't drink it in public, only because this city has an unusually high amount of Final Fantasy fans that might kill me so they can steal it from me ;_;
hahaha, nice...i live in a small town in Australia, so i doubt i'd get the same reaction if i were to walk up the street with one :p
EDIT: just out of interest, what city do you live in? i'm assuming it's in the US
I would totally collect these cans. I'd also just be interested in tasting what sort of crap sugary drink they decided to use as a potion.
Anyway, I wouldn't call someone who walked around with these cans (or more generally, seemingly embarrassing things) nerds. To me, people who are perfectly fine doing said things seem extra confident, because they don't care what people think. But then, my definition of nerd seems to be somewhat unique. Maybe I should just accept that, to the majority of the world, I AM a nerd. lol
the only thing worse than a nerd is a confident nerd...you know those a-holes who strut around thinking they're top sh*t, but really they're losers who live in their mother's basement and haven't showered for 3 days?
in saying that, i, too, am probably classified as a nerd :p, but whatever man!
Well, Barts officially has the coolest EX mode...no questions asked. A fully mastered Bare/Freelancer class. They even have the three damn stars over his head when he's in this mode. Lol!
Thanks goes to Vivsteiner for finding this link.
sweet, now i wanna play FFV :p
I wear my fangirlism loudly and proudly :bounce:
So, we know that many of the heroes just gain their ultimate weapons when going into EX mode. In fact, Cecil also gets my award for ultimate badass since he doesn't even appear to use his most proficient weapon unless in EX mode.
Cecil: Nah, most of you are not worth using my sword on, I'll just beat you with my girlfriends staff and my best friends spear I "borrowed"!
What are your guesses for weapons used by the earlier characters in EX mode?
My Theory:
Firion - Bloodsword
Bartz - Brave Sword or Ragnarok
Cecil - Deathbringer or Dark Sword (DK) Ragnarok or Mythgraven Blade (PLD)
Warrior of Light - Excalibur
cloud: buster sword...i know it sounds crazy guys, but i have a feeling, just trust me on this
I severely doubt that, although there are rumours going around that Squall will be using a gunblade. Then again, you never can trust rumours.Quote:

I wonder if Tidus can unlock the World Champion.
I would just drink it then save the empty can.
I'd drink it. In front of everyone. Proudly.
I heard it's pretty meh in regards to taste though.
yeah but you'd get 100 HP back, so it's probably worth it
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...smiley.svg.png
i like it 'cause it's big and obnoxious :)
EDIT: has anybody seen a good picture of Kuja's Dissidia Ex Mode (Trance)? because i'm really interested to see how he looks in that form
There is a new video available at the main site. Its another battle between Cloud and Sephiroth but the video seems to be hinting to the feature that allows you to record battle and watch them as cinematic videos. You also get a better idea of what the Lifestream stage is like and a taste of the Dissidia arrangement of "One Winged Angel".
They also have a new tutorial on the chess board and "random battle" system, well it isnt so bad, AT LEAST there only crystal clones rather than exact clones.
Also, I hope there might be an option for secret unlockable bonus songs for each correspondent FF (AKA JENOVA for FFVII for example)
New trailer!
ffchaoticcosmos: Dissidia Game Center CX Trailer
2:20 is jokes.
What exactly happens in the part w/ Squall, Zidane and Garland? Didn't quite get that. Was Garland sneaking up on Squall? If so, he took way too long to do it XD
Ad Gabranth looks pure awesomeness.
Is that Gabranth I see? ;)
This game is gonna be the sex.
The only way they could make it any better is if there's an option for Japanese voice over when the english version comes out.
Here's a link to the new trailer featuring subtitles.

As for the Japanese VA work, I'm still not impressed with Zidane, OK, and Kefka's VA's. They just don't sound like the way I imagined they would. Zidane's is too childish while the OK sounds physically older than he should be. Kefka's is just too much screeching and is much lighter than I thought it would be.
^Hmmm, from what I've heard, the Kefka VA does have ups and downs, he goes from screechy crazy to deep and ominous. That's pretty much how I imagined him. But I agree, they basically should switch Zidane and OK's VAs.
On a side note, Onion Knight really is the cutest thing ever. I love his outfit. That, coupled with the fact that I've been playing FFV (and love it), and I expect to quite like FFIX, might lead me to prefer the odd numbered games over the evens (which I initially preferred). Still minus XI of course...I decided that were I ever to do a mainline playthrough, rather than skip FF XI, I will play Donkey Kong Country 2 in its place. :p
Zidane calling out Squall for showing off = all my doubts about this game erased. I'm full-on the Dissidia bandwagon now. : D
2 daaaaaaaaays!
i'm pretty sure it actually got leaked...so 'todaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay' would probably be more acurate  (just take off the 's' on the end, no one will ever know :shifty: ;))
Gabranth is cool beans and all but I still would have preferred Cid :(
Here he is.
Attachment 29474
I think I just crapped a brick, finally they added a XII character, and its Grabranth. BOOYA.
I'm so excited I can't contain myself, call the president, quick somebody punch me in the face.

On the eve of this game's release, I will express my greatest wish: that it creates a general continuity for each seperate game's universe. As a Final Fantasy Nerd, I would love to see this game tie the concept of... Say, FFII's Pandaemonium and FFVII's Lifestream together.
This I can't abide by, I'm perfectly fine with the FF universes being separate to each other. It's bad enough they are trying to shoe horn VII and X into the same universe. I don't feel there is any point in connecting the FF worlds by either time or different planets.
FE would have a heart attack.
The main site updated, a few new wallpapers, an advertisement for the Soundtrack, as well as a new character section that gives you a close look at the character's EX-Modes.
Speaking of Dissidia and its soundtrack...I've been listening to it and OMG IT'S AMAZING. I just about died from nostalgia.
As a side note, it's scary how much I like Final Fantasy V. Am I allowed to like it more than IV or VI? :D
EDIT: Concerning FF game continuity, the FF worlds all take place in different dimensions. Duh. Or worlds...and we have to use a subtle knife to cut through to each of them...although that would cause huge problems. Clearly Chaos is going crazy because of all the Dust flowing out of all the FF world interaction.
squeee...that new page on the website is teh sex xD
also: started playing a bit of Dissidia  i only went into 'quick play' (after struggling to navigate through the menus...i can't read any japanese :p) and i've only played as WoL, Firion and Onion Knight...and not very well :( i got pwnt every time except for 1...but that happens when you can't read any of the prompts or messages  so far i can't pass judgement, and the control scheme/game mechanics still confuse me...i don't plan to play any further than this because i (SPOILER)didn't pay for it so it doesn't matter (waiting for an English release) :D, and i don't want to play as any more of the characters until i can actually understand the story mode :greenie:
if you want me to test/try something just ask me and i'll do the best i can, but you're much better off googling for the answer anyway
^Do you know what music plays when you control Zidane and you fight Kuja?
^Vivisteiner, they have a bunch of different FFIX tracks on the soundtrack. I think each game basically has three battle themes, which are either the regular fighting themes, a final boss theme, a special boss theme, or some other theme that's well known from the game. For example, FFVII has "One Winged Angel," "Those Who Fight Further," and "Opening Bombing Mission." Then, on the chess board, each game seems to more or less have a variation of the World Map theme, with a few exceptions. Like Gabranth seems to have the Judge theme, which is totally awesome. As for FFIX, I don't know much about it's soundtrack, but from what I can identify, it has a remix of Melodies of Life for the board, something that sounds like Kuja's theme (but I think it might be a final battle theme), what sounds like the regular battle music (heavily remixed), and something else that I can't identify. Now, where these songs play in relation to FFIX characters, I have no idea.
EDIT: My favorite part about the soundtrack is that, while some songs are remixed, others are straight out of the source game. So, some of the FFI music sounds like it came straight out of the NES. :D
EDIT2: Eh, while I'm here, I might as well identify the tracks I can identify.
I: Regular fighting theme (remixed), ?, Something that sounds like the town theme
II: Regular fighting theme (remixed), ?, ?
III: ?, ?, ?
IV: "Four Fiends (or whatever plays when you fight Rubicante and them)," "Regular Battle Theme" (remixed), "The Red Wings"
V: "Battle on the Big Bridge," "Regular Fighting Theme," ? (sounds like it would be a final battle)
VI: "Boss Battle," ?, "Dancing Mad"
VII: See above
VIII: "Regular fighting theme" (heavily remixed), "The Extreme," "Man With the Machine Gun"
IX: "Regular Battle" (remixed), ?, Something that sounds final battle-esque (has a bit of the percussion from Kuja's theme)
X: "Otherworld," "Regular Battle," "Seymour Battle" (YAY!)
XI: ?
XII: "Boss Battle"
Others: Prelude, Chocobo, Fanfare, World Map themes for all games except X (which uses "Zanarkand," and XII which uses what sounds like the Judge/Empire music. I have no idea about any of the XI stuff.
The FFIX pieces in the soundtrack are Normal Battle, Boss battle and supposedly Messenger of Destruction (unremixed). But in all the gameplay clips I've seen, I've never heard Messenger of Destruction being played. I heard that it might only be in an archive or something, or maybe it's played during cutscenes.
Oh, and I forgot to mention the remixed Melodies of Life for the main board thingy>
I'm assuming that this hasn't been posted yet: Absurdly Long Intro Clip Fight Scene..
^I've seen it, its awesome. :)
Tons of gameplay vids have now come out.
Here's a treat for Wolf Kanno:
YouTube - Gabranth Ex Burst
Actually, probably a great many of the songs have been archived, but why would that be? Maybe that's why they sound like the original version. I dunno...
I like that Gabranth takes his helmet off...he has a pretty face. :p
OMG!!!
I think I just had sex watching that video. His EX burst is awesome!!! Dark versions of all 3 of Basch's Quickening's ending with a Blackhole Finisher!!!
Yeah, it sounds like a few good memorable tracks like Dancing Mad, The Rebels, and Man with the Machine Gun may only be archived music. When I get a bit of time, I'll update your list with track names.
Overall, I like the soundtrack.
Just found out the name of Bartz's Ex-Burst. "Rapid Fire Dual-Wield Spell Blades" This, combined with the FFV Data Install page, gave me a major nerdgasm. FFV seems to be getting a LOT of love. : D
Guess this was a good time to start my FFV Lp then. (/shamelessplug)
Bartz's EX Burst also starts with the distant sound of a chocobo cry and chocobo tracks racing across the screen before it bursts into the dimensional swirl of most super moves.;)
V has definetly gotten a lot of love it deserves. Seriously, the super moves all have some level of fangasm going for them. Terra's EX super for instance is her Desperation attack Riot Blade. Cecil does a version of Omnislash except he changes between Paladin and Dark Knight for each blow and depending on how well you do he either strikes his opponents down with Darkness from the DK or a slash filled with holy light from the Paladin.
Kefka, super move either does Forsaken (his in-game Boss super attack) if you fail or Light of Judgment when he succeeds. Golbez summons his Dark Dragon for his Ex mode and then uses its power to freeze an opponent in place (just like when you face him in the Dwarven castle) while Golbez cast W. Meteo (the attack he casts with FuSoYa that killed Zemus);)
This level of detail to the characters and their abilities just shows how much love and care has gone into this game. Just about everything is a reference to the games the characters come from.
Sorry to double post but just wanted to mention that the main site has been updated. Gabranth has been added to the character selection screen and both XI and XII are represented in the special field of the character section that shows the EX modes.
yes, i'd noticed that :) they've done a really nice job with that section...
the thing i don't like is how a lot of people's Ex-Modes are pretty much exactly the same as their normal mode (with just a change of weapon or something)...i mean, i suppose it doesn't matter because you're only in that mode for a limited amount of time (as soon as you hit the enemy, it begins the ex-burst), but i was disappointed with cloud's, sephiroth's, squall's, and even shantotto's. i know there's really nothing else they could have used for their ex-mode, but i still feel a little disappointed
I understand, but its neat how close they stay to the original source material by only giving them their Ultimate Weapons. Though I don't remember Lionheart being that big...
From what I've read, they also follow the rules of their games so despite not looking like much, Squall and Tidus' weapons actually give them a bigger boost than one would think. Sephiroth's is disappointing but the Dissidia team just couldn't get Safer Sephiroth to work. I believe the director mentioned Safer Sephiroth could only have been implemented properly by scaling him down which ended up making him look weird cause suddenly he shrank. :eep:
It would have been nice though as I am not very fond of KH Sephiroth form.
haha, i also don't remember lionheart being that big, i was going to mention it but i forgot :p
and safer sephiroth would have been so awesome, but if it meant him looking ridiculous, then i'm glad they didn't use him...it's just a pity that sephiroth didn't have some other form that may have worked, doesn't he have like, 5 in the game?
Just 3 if you count his normal form.
Sephiroth has 4 different combat models in FFVII.
His normal outfit from the Kalm flashback.
Bizzaro Sephiroth form.
Safer Sephiroth form.
His shirtless outfit from the one-on-one battle with Cloud at game's end.
And a fifth form if you count his One-Winged-Angel form from Crisis Core and KH.
